May 3, 201213 yr 5th single? IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST. This song is amazing, literally my favourite thing by her. Video is good too!
May 3, 201213 yr 5th single? IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST. This song is amazing, literally my favourite thing by her. Video is good too! I think she though that YDO and TTT would sell on name alone. WHYB was bound to do well whenever its released which is probably why she left it till later.
May 3, 201213 yr Shouldn't it really be 4th single? At least in the UK as 'Birthday Cake' was hardly released properly, I'm pretty sure we've still only gpt the 1 minute something version.
May 3, 201213 yr Author Shouldn't it really be 4th single? At least in the UK as 'Birthday Cake' was hardly released properly, I'm pretty sure we've still only got the 1 minute something version. Birthday Cake was a radio single in the US so I'd say this is the 4th UK single but 5th overall.
May 4, 201213 yr The video broke the most views in 24 hours record on Vevo/Youtube with 4.93 million views. :D (Previous holder was Nicki Minaj 'Stupid Hoe') Justin Bieber's just released the 'Boyfriend' video (it's terrible!) though so that'll likely have over 5 million views in 24 hours. Ugh.
May 4, 201213 yr Her best video since Disturbia (it's still my favourite of hers though) narrowly beating We Found Love. I'm still angry that she didn't make this the second single :( Edited May 4, 201213 yr by Caïn
May 5, 201213 yr I'm glad she didn't. It completely got over shadowed by WFL for me. YDO and TTT were perfect stepping stones to stop two similar songs from being released back to back and I believe it's why the label are putting so much effort into this release and didn't put as much as they should have into the other two singles. It feels like an age since 'We Found Love' and had it been released straight after, I don't think this would have done as well as it's going to, tbh.

Right now is the best time it could have been released.
May 5, 201213 yr 100% Where Have You Been definitely shouldnt have been the second single. Right now is the best time it could have been released. I agree with you (and Jonjo), it probably would've been good as ignored in the wake of We Found Love, just as You Da One was (surely it would've gone top 10, possibly top 5, if they left it later?) - no matter how amazing it is. Now is perfect, it's later in the era but it can still be a massive hit, as proved by it shooting up by the video merely being released.
May 6, 201213 yr 100% Where Have You Been definitely shouldnt have been the second single. Right now is the best time it could have been released. I agree. Rihanna has never released two dance songs next to each other so far in her career, even in the past couple of years with the dance boom. I don't think she'll ever do it tbh. The closest she ever got was Only Girl and S&M, but they had What's My Name? inbetween.
