I know I'm 4 pages too late but here's my Katy Perry Teenage Dream rate:

Teenage Dream > Firework >> Last Friday Night >>>> California Gurls >>>>>>>>>> The One That Got Away >>>>>>> ET

Part Of Me will probably slot in somewhere near to California Gurls, it's not bad but it's far from her best - the top 3 are all in my top 20 of all time. I never really got the hype around ET, I was disappointed to hear it was being made into a single and to be honest I doubted that it would make top 10. Last Friday Night was the song that I thought would be huge, and although it performed quite well I was expecting it to be number 1. And I don't think that Teenage Dream is the forgotten song of this era, yes it 'stalled' at number 2 but had a decent chart run. It probably sold about the same as ET, it was in the YE Top 30 for 2010 IIRC (more than can be said for ET in 2011, although sales were higher then).

I think that Emeli Sande is going to be performing at Sport Relief this Friday if her twitter account is to be trusted - this may not be the case as she definitely said she would be performing on Let's Dance yesterday so who knows.

Pleased that Part Of Me is doing so well, I thought it wouldn't perform very well here seen as though it had a delayed release and no video has been released yet. I think the more shocking thing is the under-performance of all of the other new entries. A few days ago everyone was certain that it would be an all new top 3 (Katy/JLS/Labrinth), and Sean Paul has out-performed 2 of those. Just shows how unpredictable the chart has become.

I'm not really that keen on any of the new entries this week...

Katy Perry, I think this song is her weakest single to date and feels like it was written in about 10 minutes. [Why rhyme 'me' with 'me'? Although not quite as bad as Pitbull rhyming 'kodak' with 'kodak' :P]

Sean Paul.. I find the song annoying, I don't know why...

Labrinth... It's okay but nothing special.

JLS... SO dull, probably their worst single.. at least it is for charity.

I agree. Got 2 Luv U was a lot better (and not just because of Alexis Jordan  ).

Agree. It's one of my favourite songs right now, after i heard it on a night out in a pretty urban club  Alexis Jordan just sounds (and looks) so hot!

It's poetic mastery

Also Lil Wayne rhymes Mirror with Mirrors in 'Mirror'!

I never really got the hype around ET, I was disappointed to hear it was being made into a single and to be honest I doubted that it would make top 10. Last Friday Night was the song that I thought would be huge

I was the same. Before E.T. was released as a single I didn't think it was anything much, and I also would've easily chosen Last Friday Night (or even Peacock) as the 4th single, since it was a more obvious hit.

It was a big surprise to me, but it was definitely a good choice in the end. It didn't seem that big here, but it was the 3rd best-selling song of 2011 in the US. Seriously massive. I still don't really understand how it was that big.

I'd certainly say Teenage Dream is probably the forgotten single (even though it's the title track). At least out of her first 4 singles. California Gurls, Firework and E.T. all sold similar amounts in the end I think, but Teenage Dream sold way less.

It impresses me how spaced out and methodic her single releases have been. Compared to Rihanna, she's in such a mess at the moment. I don't have a clue what's going on. And it was like this during her Rated R campaign aswell.

ET was one of those songs that iknew would be a hit as soon as i heard it, it was instant for me,rising to no1 on my personal chart within 2 weeks, kanye being on it just took it to a completely different level.it just sounds different to her other single with the rnb element whereas the other songs off her album were pure pop.And why is there soo much hate on here for CG,its sooo summery and it was snoop doggs first uk no1 single in a 17 year career at the time!! :D

It's poetic mastery

Also Lil Wayne rhymes Mirror with Mirrors in 'Mirror'!

I think the only time it's acceptable for a rapper to rhyme the same word with itself is if it's to emphasize a point. Otherwize I just think it's lazy (especially when it's a word like "Kodak"). Or if it's to make a joke/pun (like in Heart Skips a Beat where they rhyme "see-saw" with "see Saw").

Are Keane releasing a single over here to promote their album?

Over here?would britain not be their main market?

The album has a May 7th release date!

Why have YouMeAtSix released a new single already? Didn't they just release their album a couple of weeks ago?

Album came out in September, this is for a new ride at Thorpe Park.

yay For Katy but boo for Alexandra i hoped Elephant would at least get a second week top 10  . On the other at least JLS arent doing too good so far. :cheer:
Urgh. Guess I'll have to endure hearing POM everywhere I go for the next 6 months (minimum).
Urgh. Guess I'll have to endure hearing POM everywhere I go for the next 6 months (minimum).

Personally, I'll be surprised if I hear it anywhere (apart from the radio).

Shake It Out being used again in a minute so another slight boost
Florence - Shake It Out up to #41, was it used in DOI?

Yup, it was. Great to see it climbing nicely again  I thought it would have dropped out of the top 100 today but it is still at #87, should make it to 25 straight weeks top 100 next Sunday with this latest boost then and hopefully it'll become their third song to pass 30 weeks :D

Angel ft Wretch 32 - Go in, Go hard  50

COME ON!, hopes this gets top 40.
