Posted March 15, 201213 yr This has been hyped up a lot on BJ recently (if you listen you will understand why ;P) and is a huge hit in many members personal charts. It's Sweden's Eurovision entry. It's a hot favourite right now with the bookies, to go and win. Will it be the highest charting non-UK entry since Alexander Rybak 'Fairytale' reached the UK top 10? STUDIO: xK8VKc24RaM LIVE PERFORMANCE: MnbJWR7PaII It's very "euphoric" and has all the makings of being a hit. But will it be able to overcome the "Eurovision Curse" that seems to be apparent in the UK? PLEASE LISTEN BEFORE JUDGING! ;P
March 15, 201213 yr STILL trying to make it happen Jonjo? :P I actually geniunely think it will actually go top 20, which would still sort of be breaking the 'curse'. I very much doubt it will go the full hog and get airplay and everythng so it can go top 10 or further, but I really hope it does  On the poll, I was optimistic and went top 20 for both. March 15, 201213 yr Author YES! :( It WILL happen, whether it's now, during or after Eurovision. IT WILL HAPPEN! Aha. The thing is, we need to though, because there are some people that probably won't listen to it just because it is Eurovision. :( Oh and I was with you. I went top 20 for both although it's probably more likely to be just top 20 on iTunes with a 31-35 peak officially :(
March 15, 201213 yr Haha true, I get everyone in my personal chart who misses it out in their response to give it a listen, so I'm doing my bit
March 15, 201213 yr Well, it'll only become a UK hit provided that they get 'Euphoria' added to iTunes by the night of Eurovision. That boost of sales it could potentially get on the Sunday (27th May) will determine if it'll be the next 'Fairytale'. If it isn't available on iTunes on the Sunday then it'll be a resounding flop for a song that, imo, is the only Eurovision entry worth bothering with this year. I still think if this was by Leona Lewis the UK media would be in a frenzy claiming this to be Leona's "Believe" or "Hung Up". Alas, it's from Eurovision so won't touch it with a bargepole despite actually being a solid gold pop song. Yes I'm a loon. Loon-reen. :D
March 15, 201213 yr It'll peak top 10 on iTunes and top 10/20 officially IF it wins Eurovision and is actually added to iTunes in time, and not left until days after the contest a la Satellite in 2010. Will it be promoted and become a huge UK hit? There's more chance of hell freezing over than Radio 1 and Capital getting on board with a Eurovision winner/entry. TV might be kinder to it, but only the likes of Chart Show and Dance Nation. So if it is a hit it will be a flash in the pan one, despite it clearly having the potential to be HUGE if radio would bother supporting it.
March 15, 201213 yr I HOPE SHE GETS #41 OR #76 SO SHE KNOWS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO JUST MISS OUT DESPITE BEING GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPLETELY SMASH. :kink: :kink: :kink:
March 15, 201213 yr To think 'A Little Peace' was a UK #1 hit in 1982 off the back of Eurovision (I purposely choose this instead of the pop anthem that is 'Waterloo' by ABBA :D ). What is the average TV audience these days for Eurovision? Clearly there was interest in 2009 for Alexander Rybak to get as high as #4 on iTunes. I do wonder if Loreen (provided she wins) would get as much of a boost. Would be happy to see 'Euphoria' make the top 10 even if it meant performing, UK chart wise, like a faceless dance act from 2000 going 09-23-38-62...

Maybe it'll suddenly take off, be critically applauded by everyone and actually get some airplay. More likely, it'll come in 5th and be forgotten about. It will get top 100 though, I'm sure of that.
March 15, 201213 yr Top 20 in both cases. I don't think iTunes will realise their mistakes anytime soon (regarding the absolutely retarded 'Satellite' release decision) so it's the most likely outcome really.

I'm sure Jedward being in the final didn't hurt the ratings either! And with Jedward back and sure to make the final once again I'd expect ratings to be around the 9-10 million mark at least on average. 12.7 million were watching the results coming in last year, that's HUGE numbers for a modern day TV show :o 2009 had much lower ratings but Fairytale was such a standout song and runaway winner that I guess it encouraged people to buy it in their droves. Everything would need to be in place for Loreen to go top ten in the UK - huge ratings, she'd need to win and have a signifcant lead over 2nd place on the scoreboard, and most importantly - it would need to be available to download! In fact, if when the Eurovision compilation comes out on iTunes, Euphoria is locked in as 'album only' I shall be starting a Facebook campaign to ENSURE that somebody gets it on there before the final rolls around! Not suffering another Satellite situation of the song peaking 15 places lower than it probably would have done otherwise. As an equal parts chart loon and Eurovision loon it irritates me no end when record companies completely miss the hype by not offering the songs to download when people actually want them. This isn't exclusive to Eurovision songs though...
March 15, 201213 yr This is currently the most listened to song WORLDWIDE on Spotify. I doubt the UK is contributing much to that, but clearly there is interest there. Musically, it is the sort of thing that the UK would like, and it would be all over Capital and Radio 1 if it was Chris Brown or Jason Derulo singing on it. Due to the artist, I can't see this doing well to be honest. I think it might be one of those songs that goes #1 in loads of countries in Europe and then #35 in the UK.
March 15, 201213 yr On Spotify you can filter it so it shows you the top 100 most listened to tracks worldwide. Spotify is Sweden's main chart component iirc, so I thought it would be high but not number 1 :o
March 15, 201213 yr It'll be interesting what the UK thinks of this. The performance is very Kate Bush circa Running Up That Hill.
March 15, 201213 yr I said top 20 for both too. I think it will get to like ~#12 on iTunes (possibly getting all the way to #11 and stalling) and then fall back and something like #16-#18 officially.
March 15, 201213 yr The studio version is a solid 11/10. The live version is off the scale and too good to rate, she performs the $hit out of it, life enhancing.
