March 16, 201213 yr Indeed, the more chart friendly songs tend to do well on iTunes regardless of their Eurovision placing anyway. Didn't Je Ne Sais Quoi linger around the top 75 for a few days in 2010 despite failing in the final? And in 2009 Lose Control by Waldo's People came dead last and officially charted at #100 in the UK (much higher on iTunes). Even if it all goes wrong for Loreen I'm confident that she'll bag herself an official top 100 hit  Lose Control was my second favourite Eurovision song of 2009 (behind Fairytale as clichéd as that is, my favourite Eurovision song of the few years I've watched with New Tomorrow in 2nd) so I was pleasantly surprised to see it managed to (barely) get an official top 100 placing despite its appalling performance in the actual contest.
March 17, 201213 yr Considering this has already gone to number one in Finland, pretty much through word of mouth, I think it's fair to say this is going to become a major European hit. Indeed. :D If European iTunes is anything to go, Loreen should enter Norway's singles chart next week. :o
March 17, 201213 yr Indeed. :D If European iTunes is anything to go, Loreen should enter Norway's singles chart next week. :o Not surprising! :D Interestingly, over the last 10 years, four Eurovision songs have hit #1 in Finland - Satellite, Fairytale, Lose Control and Hard Rock Hallelujah. Three of those were monumental Eurovision winners! It all bodes well for Loreen!
March 17, 201213 yr Considering this has already gone to number one in Finland, pretty much through word of mouth, I think it's fair to say this is going to become a major European hit. Has ANY Eurovision song ever gone to #1 in another country months before the contest? I honestly can't think of any examples here. Amazing feat! What is so special about this song makes it hard for me to understand. Is it for the instrumental? But that can't be the case as it sounds the same as any dance instrumental pop song there is. Is it the vocals or catchiness? I don't find the song itself highlights her vocals much nor is it THAT catchy. For me personally it's all of this and more, the instrumental is much more special than your everyday dance song with the subtle production touches and flourishes throughout. Furthermore it's Loreen's unique delivery, the almost eerie understated verses building up to the soaring and confident vocal in the chorus which truly does lift the whole thing and make it feel euphoric, the stunning melody doesn't exactly hinder things either. Add the spine-tingling drama and mystique of the performance to the mix and it all equates to perfection. Like Sia with Titanium, Loreen is the driving force of why the song is so special, give it to somebody else to sing and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Of course some people are going to find it overrated, we don't all have the same tastes, but for me it's a truly spectacular, life enhancing piece of music, so much more any old run of the mill pop-dance song, and I genuinely hope that it does win and that she conquers Europe because it would be no less than she and this song deserves.
March 17, 201213 yr Like Sia with Titanium, Loreen is the driving force of why the song is so special, give it to somebody else to sing and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Apparently it was a 'schlager stomper' when it was offered to Danny. I'd be intrigued to hear it inevitably down the line when it appears on one of those Melodifestivalen boxsets, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near as good!
March 17, 201213 yr Has ANY Eurovision song ever gone to #1 in another country months before the contest? I honestly can't think of any examples here. Amazing feat! Not that I'm aware of! Not even Fairytale and Satellite managed an international #1 until they were performed at Eurovision!
March 17, 201213 yr Ok maybe vocally it is great but to fully get into it, one actually has to see the live performance. The studio version isn't as great after hearing both. Her vocals were STUNNING! :o The studio version sucks because she outsings it live much more as well, when it's usually the opposite. Edited March 17, 201213 yr by Oricon
March 17, 201213 yr To the four people who think this will miss the iTunes top 300 - really? Given most of the big Eurovision entries tend to make it in and this is the hot favourite to win... Those are blind Eurovision haters who didn't even listen to the song and automatically chose that option the moment they saw the 'Eurovision' tag. So I wouldn't take their 'opinion' seriously.
March 17, 201213 yr Lose Control was my second favourite Eurovision song of 2009 (behind Fairytale as clichéd as that is, my favourite Eurovision song of the few years I've watched with New Tomorrow in 2nd) so I was pleasantly surprised to see it managed to (barely) get an official top 100 placing despite its appalling performance in the actual contest. I still listen to it ALOT. Hasn't aged one bit for me. At the time, I preferred Aysel & Arash's Always, and whilst I still listen to that fairly regularly, Lose Control has easily edged it now. I thought that contest was great! :D

I'd be intrigued to hear it inevitably down the line when it appears on one of those Melodifestivalen boxsets, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near as good! So I heard! I was trying to imagine it in my head as a schlager song and I can sort of vision it, but it wouldn't be half as special. Giving it to Loreen was a rather inspired choice, and one that massively paid off. Not that I'm aware of! Not even Fairytale and Satellite managed an international #1 until they were performed at Eurovision! I wonder if Finnish radio have picked up on it now that it's #1 there, or if they'll just let it fall down the charts only to return in May. It seems to me that she's already bagged 48 points from Scandinavia before even setting foot on the Eurovision stage. Ok maybe vocally it is great but to fully get into it, one actually has to see the live performance. The studio version isn't as great after hearing both. Her vocals were STUNNING! :o The studio version sucks because she outsings it live much more as well, when it's usually the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I do love the studio version but it can't compare to the live version at all. The first time I ever heard the song was the live performance and I was absolutely blown away. That's why I'm so confident that she'll win Eurovision (and spin off a UK hit as a side effect), it's a real 'moment' performance, just like Fairytale and Satellite were, and not like the vocally limp damp squib that was Running Scared, I'm not surprised that nobody was inspired to download that. The viewing figures are always highest at towards the climax of the voting, so if she did win, and got to perform it for a second time with 12 million people watching, assuming that it's actually on iTunes I see no reason why it won't quickly soar into the top ten/twenty at least.

So I wouldn't take their 'opinion' seriously. This. I guarantee that if Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis sang it, those few people would be spaffing themselves silly over it. Not to mention it would probably be considered said artist's best work by miles in the eyes of pretty much everyone.
March 17, 201213 yr 'Euphoria' is already getting played on some Russian and Belarusian radios (granted, not the biggest stations but still it's better than no exposure that almost all of the other Eurovision entrants get) too.

The live performance was stunning, I even watched it 3 times in a row last night. It's safe to say I can eat back my words and I love this song now
March 17, 201213 yr Considering this has already gone to number one in Finland, pretty much through word of mouth, I think it's fair to say this is going to become a major European hit. Not totally word of mouth, the Melodifestivalen final was shown here as well. But impressive anyway.. The first foreign song to go #1 before the ESC, like people said above. It's already getting some airplay from the local NRJ. Personally, dunno about the song. I sort of like it, but mostly it'd be good for Sweden to win and maintain their run of *once in a decade*. It would be about time or they'll get even more desperate if possible :P Edited March 17, 201213 yr by SKOB

UjrVoonz4WE Now this is a much harder song to sing live, and she's vocally amazing as well.

Unless you mean hosting wise, because they have indeed hosted one contest per decade since the 70s!
March 18, 201213 yr Oops sorry, forgot that Charlotte won in 99, not 2000. My bad. That was so noughties for me already. But anyway, it's time for another win for them. Edited March 18, 201213 yr by SKOB
March 18, 201213 yr Author She's definitely one of my favourite vocalists of the last couple of years! She's brilliant! xGiex5wM4dk She makes it look so easy!
