Ellie has officially earned the prestigious record of 'longest climb to top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 by a female who wasn't aided by country airplay'.

Lights up to 6 on this weeks billboard (wtf), also showing signs of being a potential worldwide hit, peaking at 25 in NZ, and 11 in Switzerland, and it looks set for a similar peak in Canada.

 

BB report has it down that she has sold 1.9 million. Definitely going over 2 million next week, and I stand by my prediction of 4 million overall.

It's MADNESS, amazing but just madness. I can't believe it :lol:

 

I remember thinking it was literally mindblowing when I saw it at something like #178 ages ago on iTunes Australia, but that was before Bright Lights even existed and it was only an iTunes bonus track (it was used on an advert there I found out), and now it's top 10 in America and as Australia follows suit it'll surely do similair there? :o

Done exactly the same as his last two singles - flopping for weeks, then suddenly making a rapid surge to the top 10. I presume it'll continue the pattern and now stay top 10 for months on end. Odd.

I think Lights is by far her weakest single, but really glad to see Ellie getting success over here, never thought it would happen! :cheer: :o

Nothing inherently wrong with being religious. Homophobia is a different matter but I imagine 90% of the people supporting the song are only doing it for Carly anyway.

Ellie's #5 right now and could potentially pass out Gotye quite soon. Take out Carly and that awful religious bast*rd (*shakes fist*) and she's #3. So she's actually making more progress than I expected.

Ellie back up to five. Looking set to pass Gotye and his nice but hideously overrated song. Owl City will soon fall after the initial hype and then she will go top 3. Definitely number one contender (I think)
