It just baffles me to think that Call Me Maybe's release date is still another MONTH away. The song would shoot straight into the T10 if it was released now, so why bother holding it back?

 

I find it quite frustrating to be honest. I can understand that they want song to have high peaks (thats one of the main goals for any act or label) but there is absolutely no need to build up demand for 6-8 weeks anymore. I mean there are fakes of Justin Bieber after less than a day, it'd easily be top 10 by now if the label had released it today.

 

It still wouldn't surprise me if Call Me Maybe and We Are Young release dates as moved forward though otherwise the fake versions are going to get rather high. UK act labels tend to stick to their release dates so I expect RIP and Let's Go for example, to stick with their dates at the moment.

 

Let's Go Vs Call Me Maybe could be an interesting chart battle w/c 23/4/12.

Wide Awake will surely go top 40 this week?

 

Weird to see Sean Paul holding strong over Katy Perry(her ep version) in #02, Starships is also away to overtake Part Of Me, Starships for number one next week? Quite worrying to see Jls dropping so bad now though, are they becoming that unimportant? A drop to #15 is looking incredibly likely!

^ I think holding back songs can hurt peaks even, if they're held back too long. The general consensus is that will.i.am would've got to #1 if he released a few weeks earlier, same for Dappy.

 

And the songs lose a lot more sales as you said. Chris Brown may be #1 now, but he's still lost out on 100,000+ sales from his fake versions and all those people that would've bought the song a month ago, but are bored of it now, etc. Although I don't like Chris's current song, so I won't complain that it's missed out on all those sales. :kink: But in reality, if it sells 300,000 by the end of the year, it would've really sold maybe 400,000 if it was available from the get-go.

It looks like it. I also really hope Mama Knows Best makes it. It's done very well, I thought it would've started falling ages ago.

And tbf, I don't think We Are Young had any near as much hype when it was released in the UK.

Amazing to see that it's just Monday night and Chris Brown is already in dark Red. I think come Wednesday the Gap will only be around 15%, although I doubt there's any chance Chris Brown wont be number one come sunday.

 

Sean Paul is still 38% Behind him, three weeks ago who would have thought his chart run would be 2-2 and Katy Perry's would be 1-3 maybe 1-4.

 

Also as I previously stated it's worrying to see Jls in every update in Dark Red, I will be shocked if this spends over 3 weeks in the top 40. A drop of 10places is looking likely.
