Posted March 22, 201213 yr I have used chartstats.com quite a lot over the years, and I assume others have to, and would like to ask if anyone has found any errors on the site. I was looking at the chart runs of The Dooleys (don't ask!) and hit a problem with the single "Don't Take It Lyin' Down". In both the Guiness and Virgin singles books, and on Polyhex, it has a 3 week run - 73-68-60 but chartstats gives it a second week at number 60 (chart w/e 3/6/78). I assume the error is at chartstats' end but can't work out which record should actually be at Number 60 that week.
March 22, 201213 yr One problem i've seen with chartstats is that they don't have Miley Cyrus's debut studio album listed, even though according to Wikipedia it went to #8 in the UK, there's no record of it at all on chartstats, or some of her other soundtracks.

I can confirm that the Dooleys, did infact have 2 weeks at #60 & 4wks in the top 75. It's the published books that are wrong (as usual). I've got the top 75 from Record Mirror for 1978.

If you mean the double album 'Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus', it apparently charted in the compilations chart, which Chart Stats don't keep records of. I assume the same is true of the other missing entries of hers.
March 22, 201213 yr well spotted fchd! I've never noticed that error before. I've sent an email to Colin (polyhex) so hopefully he'll update its chart run.
March 22, 201213 yr Polyhex has some minor crediting problems too. For example Jay-Z wasn't credited on Crazy In Love (by Beyonce). Otherwise I found Polyhex very accurate but I have to say I don't know the older charts before 1990 or so.

Looking at my copy he isn't on the cover or the spine though he is credited on the actual Cd.
March 22, 201213 yr Jay Z has never been credited on"crazy in love" even at the time. Looking at my copy he isn't on the cover or the spine though he is credited on the actual Cd. Weird, there's another example though: Swagga Like Us (Jay-Z & T.I. Feat. Kanye West And Lil Wayne), on Polyhex T.I. is not credited, although he appears on the CD cover.

Was the CD a different version to the digital release? Music Week has the release listed as digital only, perhaps the physical version was released after the track fell off the charts?
March 22, 201213 yr The Chart Stats Site misses out loads of old Album Chart Positions. 1) It has 'ABBA Gold' on 503 Top 100 Weeks. It should be 647 Weeks. So, it has 'lost' over 2.5 Years of its Top 100 Weeks - 144 Weeks. 2) It has 'Greatest Hits', by Queen, on 496 Top 100 Weeks. It should be 635 Weeks, so - again - over 2.5 Years are missing. 139 Weeks, in Queen's case.....

Tbh I don't know, Bray and Eric_Blob told me a couple of times that in our Jay-Z chart history in the Sunday's chart show TI was missing from the crediting. I checked the cover on Amazon.co.uk and he was really credited on the cover: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swagga-Like-Us-Exp...7118&sr=8-1 That's a digital release though.
March 22, 201213 yr Swagga Like Us was released as a single from T.I.'s album 'Paper Trail', if anything T.I. is the least 'contentious' credit. Re: Crazy In Love, Jay-Z is clearly credited on the album tracklisting which satisfies my personal criteria for counting him as a credited artist, but he doesn't appear to be mentioned on the single cover so it's debatable. March 22, 201213 yr What about Pyramid by Charice/Iyaz. I think Iyaz is credited by the OCC but isn't on one of those websites or something.

Chartstats doesn't have a complete top 100 album chart archive - the owner of the site generally puts up any data he has received/can find, rather than a specific limit (top 75) like the person who runs Polyhex does. Throughout 1999, for example, the album chart archive only has top 40 positions, then it switches to top 75 for years, then when the OCC started publishing the top 100 (in 2007) on their site it switches to that until the present. For that reason, though, you are right that the weeks count shouldn't be taken as an exact authority. Likewise the singles archive switches to top 100 in 2007 after being top 75 for years. In terms of the data that's there, I would say Chartstats is reasonably accurate. I'm sure there are some errors as you would expect with such a large amount of data collected by a person. But I would add that the album archive is probably less so because it's compiled from multiple different resources AFAIK, therefore perhaps multiplying the number of potential human errors. I know that I sent him a period of album charts a few years back now, and I do remember watching the album archive build and build slowly all the way from years back when the site was still quite new and not as well-known as it seems to be now...

As you mentioned, the OCC also credit it to just Charice http://www.officialcharts.com/archive-chart/_/1/2010-10-02/ Another one I noticed was All of the Lights. The OCC credit it to "Kanye West ft. Drake and Rihanna" (see here at #19: http://www.officialcharts.com/archive-chart/_/1/2011-04-02/ ), but I noticed Buzzjack doesn't credit Drake, so I assume that Polyhex place doesn't credit him either.

March 22, 201213 yr Drake was not on 'All Of The Lights'. He was going to be on it, but, in the end he wasn't. I've checked this over & over. He was not on that Single. I've even seen an interview, where he is asked if he minded not being included on it, & he said that he was OK about the matter. Edited March 22, 201213 yr by zeus555
