Cheryl Cole up from 5 votes to 31 votes in just 3 days!!!! amazing!!!

Rita Ora is still far from the record since she's only had 1 solo number one hit, her feature song doesn't count....

Why not? You don't consider "Titanium" or "When Love Takes Over" #1 hits for Sia or Kelly Rowland then?

none... i'm only talking about solo number 1's or at least songs which features the female as a lead artist.. for example Alexandra Burke 'Bad boys' features Flo Rida but she's the lead in there while Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora is NOT a Rita Ora track, it's a DJ Fresh track, if it was a duet like Beyonce & Shakira's 'Beautiful Liar' they both got co-credits as lead vocalists, so it counts for both...

as for Titanium" and "When Love Takes Over" they are David Guetta tracks... they don't count as number 1's for Sia or Kelly Rowland....

This.

It annoys me when people credit their favourite artists with #1's they don't even have. A featured artist is just that; an artist featuring on another artists song. Rita might have done the vocals for DJ Fresh but it was DJ Fresh who released it as his song through his label and it counts as his #1. I do think it can be subjective, though. For example i'd say JLS have seven #1's if you include Hero and Everybody Hurts (not Wishing On A Star since they were featured on that).

Never understood that way of looking at it. If their name is on the credit, I'd still count it as one of their records as well, even if they're not the "lead" artist.

The actual definition of featuring is "Have as a prominent attribute or aspect", so it's not like they're irrelevant to the song. In some cases they're 100% relevant to the song!

This. ;)

It saddens me that Rita Ora is seen as a candidate for this now. I'd rather have Jessie over her.

I don't count features either! If you're a featured artist I don't count it as your song. Basically what Shadow2009 said. If it's '[insert name here] & [insert name here]' then I'll count it but not '[insert name here] (ft. [insert name here])'.

I hope The Saturdays feature on another artist's single, and it goes to #1... with this view point, the fans wouldn't be able to celebrate it as a #1 single for The Sats. :kink:

Geri's back :yahoo: !!!! i know she has more chance of getting struck by lightning than reach number 1 again but here is her shot at extending her record....

Leona Lewis deserves to have the most No.1s by British Female. She has her best voice, she has class and she has huge songs..If someone listens her song "My Hands", he will understand it..

Back to reality, i think that Lily Allen is a strong contender to achieve this. I would like to release something like "The Fear" which it's her best song for me..

Adele is the most possible, but I hope, that Geri Halliwell will hold this record in her hands for the next 10-15 years.
If Leona Lewis make her videoclip "One More Sleep" like "Wrecking Ball", she will be straight to No.1.. :heehee: Controversial artists always sell with their first attempt to provoke everyone..

Adele would have to get 3 more #1s to get that record which is very unlikely.

I think Cheryl has a good chance next year. She could possibly break Geri's record if she releases two singles before the album.

You want her to remain 'out in front'? Unless she goes anorexic again, I think she will remain so... ;)

Lily Allen could manage two number 1s in two weeks this month, so she could easily end up doing it.
It's obviously between Pixie & Jessie J.

Both of whom only ever produce no.2s :P

I think Pixie and Jessie have missed their shots. Lily is by far the most likely at this stage, but I could see both of her current singles peaking at #2, in which case she has a while to go yet.

Cheryl is my second choice, but only if her next comeback is marketed flawlessly.
