Shame Nicki is beating Labrinth. Labrinth's album is seriously fantastic and sounds very fresh and original whereas Nicki's is just a clone of the first album except mixed with more cheap bubble gum pop tracks thrown in.

Weird how Nicki's first album only peaked at #16 yet she's now looking for a #1.

(mostly due to her selling out with Super Bass and Starships but whatever...)

Wow - I expected Madge to still be #1, as I couldn't imagine any of this weeks new releases being a threat...

You didn't expect any of the new releases to sell 25k?

Labrinth is doomed never to hit #1 isnt he

Who would of thought Nicki Minaj at #1 in UK with an album :o

OMG ! I didn't know Labrinth's album was out this week ! I have to get it, such a brillant musician

Well, she's one of the biggest stars on planet right now. Even here some people are obsessed with her and critics love her.

I meant to add who would of thought it a year or two ago when she debuted, for a female rap artist too, wether we like her or not, big achievement.

Love your picture of Cheryl Hayzayy, she looks so good.

Well yea indeed, she has risen quite fast.

Wish Missy Elliott had the same kind of album success ten years ago..

Would Nicki be the first female rapper to make #1 with an album?

Moshi Monsters sounds like a Pokemon rip-off to me

I think the top 5 will be the same though come Sunday albeit in a different order. The gap between Madonna and Guetta was huge last week and even though she's on track for just under half her debut week sales, I'd imagine no other album would make 20k this week, except Guetta at a push.

4 Moshi Monsters – Music Rox 8,5k

5 Madonna – MDNA 6,1k

Her album is so bad and Moshi Monsters are selling more than her..(An ex-fan of her..) :)

Despite the title the Nicki Minaj album is new, not another rehash of Pink Friday.

I might change my mind after seeing the full top 40 tomorrow but I can see Adele getting back into the top five after her Albert Hall concert is shown on Thursday.

ARGH my prediction of it dropping out of top ten in April will not happen then.

I knew that, but I still didn't think it'd be a threat.

One of the GEMS from the Moshi Monsters :kink: :

Currently, this would describe my situation

Nicki Minaj getting number 1 would be quite an achievement, not only for rap albums in general, but female rap albums!

Would love The Futureheads to be top 40 in the first mids but unfortunately can't see it...

This is their first album without mainstream support! :(

Not surprised at the top 4 new entries isnt it school holidays?

Edited by steve201

It's probably quite unlikely but if the top 4 remain as they are it'd be the first time since W/E 25/09/2010 that all of the top 4 are new entries.

That week:

1 The Script - Science & Faith

2 Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns

3 Robert Plant - Band Of Joy

4 Phil Collins - Going Back

The last non-human act to get a top 5 album was of course Gorillaz, when 'Plastic Beach' was #4 on W/E 27/03/2010.

Well given the type of album it is, that's hardly surprising really.

Oh, they have done this a cappella album - I heard about that a while ago but had no idea it was actually being done. I liked their Live Lounge version of 'Acapella'.
