February 12, 20178 yr Author Hoping to celebrate my 50th contest in style in this thread over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for more stuff to come! In the mean time, I hope you all enjoy Right Here as much as I am right now :D
February 12, 20178 yr Really quite impressed with this, it's not what you'd expect from a typical TARO Bellamia entry! I mean, you compared it to Troye Sivan and The 1975 who I knew you were big fans of but it's quite a new sound for you in the contest - so yay for that side of your taste being unleashed. The production really hooked me in  Hope this does well for you! x

Initially I wanted to send Reset by Lucie Silvas, my favourite song at that particular moment, but it had been chosen by someone else already! My replacement was Running Away by Greyson Chance, a song that remains one of my favourite entries to date. Looks like this worked in my favour too as Running Away, whilst DNQing, actually outperformed Reset which came last in its semi! I didn't actually get a single qualifier until my fifth contest, when I sent Kristyna Myles with I'm Not Going Back. It "only" managed to come 29th in the final but I was delighted to have qualified at all! I then didn't qualify until my ninth entry - Gold by Britt Nicole, and this seemed to be when TARO Bellamia finally arrived. Gold finished in the top 20 - the first of FIVE top 20 hits in 2013, including my best performing entry to date, Something About You by tyDi featuring Kerli. It was a very different entry for me at the time, being my first foray into dance, and it certainly paid off, coming 4th! Since then, I've only had two further top 10 hits: Moment Like You by Lia Marie Johnson and High by Jesper Jenset. Interestingly, Cold War by Niykee Heaton won the semi final in the 73rd contest but missed out on a top 10 placing in the final, coming 11th! I've had 14 top 20 hits in total, out of 28 qualifiers, meaning I've qualified with a majority of my entries so far. Notable entries of mine include Running Guns by Alyssa Reid, which was vetoed the month before but I re-sent it in the veto-free contest (:kink:) and Please Don't Go by Joel Adams, which became a worldwide Spotify hit, reaching the top 10 in Sweden and being certified silver in the UK. There are also double appearances from Ulrik Munther, Amanda Blush, Reed Deming and The Ready Set. Conrad Sewell and Maty Noyes are both notable for featuring on hits by Kygo, and Trevor Dahl is a member of EDM group Cheat Codes (and the vocalist on their hit singles). Ryan Lawrie and Tanya Lacey have both recently featured on ITV talent shows - The X Factor and The Voice UK respectively! I'll be posting my personal rank of all my entries so far soon, but I'd love to hear your favourites :o
February 13, 20178 yr 'Nån gång' is absolute favourite of yours, followed by 'Body' by Benjamin and 'High' by Jesper Jenset.
February 13, 20178 yr I love Running Away (despite myself) and Freakin Me Out a lot - we don't cross paths a lot but you are capable of a few good pop tunes. Light The Sky, Running Guns, Nan Gang, Hold Me Up they're all also good.
February 15, 20178 yr Author 50th Contest: Ranking my entries I've been updating this semi-regularly for a while in the 'Rank Your Entries' thread but I thought I'd post this update in my national thread for a change! AMONGST MY ALL TIME FAVES 01 Ulrik Munther - Heroes In Defeat (Change Your Mind) [BJSC 55] 02 Reed Deming - Crash Test Dummy (Broken) [BJSC 69] 03 Cody Simpson - Wish U Were Here (feat. Becky G) [BJSC 52] 04 Conrad Sewell - Hold Me Up [BJSC 76] 05 Joel Adams - Please Don't Go [BJSC 81] Oh the fun of most of my favourite entries DNQ'ing! Heroes In Defeat was always an obvious DNQ but I'd probably have regretted not sending it, it's a song that means a lot to me so I'm really glad I entered it. Crash Test Dummy was a similar case really, although I think it proved itself to have a better shot than expected, gaining a fair bit of love. Cody suffered from the wrong semi I think - I knew of two people in the opposite semi who'd likely have given it top points! :drama: Conrad Sewell's Hold Me Up scraped through the veto after his feature on Kygo's Firestone and Australian chart success with Start Again, and it thankfully qualified and finished top 15. Finally, Joel Adams' Please Don't Go rounds out the top 5, being one of only two songs on this list to have charted on the UK top 100. ADORE 06 Ryan Lawrie - If Only [BJSC 88] 07 Ulrik Munther - Nån gång [BJSC 74] 08 Lewis Watson - Stay [BJSC 65] 09 Haley Reinhart - Free [BJSC 45] 10 Greyson Chance - Running Away [BJSC 43] 11 Nemo Schiffman - I Don't Mind [BJSC 91] 12 Maty Noyes - In My Mind [BJSC 86] 13 Jesper Jenset - High [BJSC 85] 14 Alyssa Reid - Running Guns [BJSC 54] 15 Benjamin - Body [BJSC 83] 16 Caroline Brooks - Parachute [BJSC 62] 17 tyDi - Something About You (feat. Kerli) [BJSC 57] 18 Trevor Dahl - When You Come Home [BJSC 90] Moving into songs I still really love now, and Ryan Lawrie is at the top of this list. If Only had quite a remarkable journey throughout 2016, from discovering it months before his X Factor audition, then its new lease of life afterwards, surpassing expectations in BJSC, and now I'm likely gonna be hearing it live finally in April. Ulrik appears again with Swedish language track Nån gång, one of three songs I've sent that are at least partially in a foreign language. Lewis Watson, Greyson Chance, Alyssa Reid and Benjamin are other particular favourite artists of mine, and I took the chance to send them all at one point throughout the past 50 contests. Haley Reinhart takes the highest female entry of mine however, with Free, penned by Lucie Silvas. Recent entries from Trevor Dahl and Nemo Schiffman also pop up here with the potential of going higher, as well as my two biggest entries courtesy of tyDi and Jesper Jenset. LOVE 19 Kristina Maria - Karma [BJSC 49] 20 Lia Marie Johnson - Moment Like You [BJSC 72] 21 Michael Schulte - Jump Before We Fall [BJSC 59] 22 Jakob Karlberg - Fan va bra [BJSC 78] 23 Isac Elliot - Worth Something [BJSC 87] 24 Britt Nicole - Gold [BJSC 51] 25 Amanda Blush - Give It All [BJSC 66] 26 Bean - Rollercoaster [BJSC 67] At #19 is one of my most overlooked entries I feel, both by me and the BJSC voters. Kristina Maria's Karma remains a top notch pop song with a huge chorus, and it sadly DNQ'd despite coming 15th in it semi, due to only 14 qualifiers going through that month (never forgiving Ryan for that xx). My third and final top 10 rounds out the top 20, thanks to Lia Marie Johnson. Isac Elliot is someone I'd been meaning to send for a long time and I finally took the chance in the 87th contest, with Worth Something sadly becoming my biggest flop of 2016. That was worth the wait :') Pop tunes from Britt Nicole and Amanda Blush also feature, alongside Sweden's Jakob Karlberg and Germany's Michael Schulte, REALLY LIKE 27 Reed Deming - Satellites [BJSC 71] 28 Chase Atlantic - Right Here [BJSC 92] 29 The Ready Set - Good Enough [BJSC 82] 30 Catey Shaw - The Ransom (Tommy Walker Remix) [BJSC 89] 31 Shawn Hook - Sound of Your Heart [BJSC 84] 32 Sofia Reyes - Muévelo (feat. Wisin) [BJSC 70] 33 The Ready Set - Freakin' Me Out [BJSC 78] 34 Tanya Lacey - Too Many Cooks [BJSC 53] 35 Lauren Aquilina - Sinners [BJSC 56] 36 Houseshaker - Light the Sky (feat. Amanda Blush) [BJSC 58] 37 Niykee Heaton - Cold War [BJSC 73] 38 Lucie Silvas - Hide & Seek [BJSC 46] 39 Wølffe - Shoot You Down [BJSC 77] 40 Topher Jones - Talk About It (feat. Katie Sky) [BJSC 60] 41 Olivia Somerlyn - Parachute [BJSC 75] 42 Madeline Juno - Like Lovers Do [BJSC 63] 43 Nina Nesbitt - Boy [BJSC 50] 44 Cassie Steele - Mad [BJSC 64] 45 Sarah De Bono - No Shame [BJSC 48] A massive chunk of entries here now! Notable entries start off with the second Reed Deming entry, which actually managed to do worse than the first one, and both entries by The Ready Set. Lauren Aquilina's Sinners actually made the top 100 thanks to its parent EP of the same name, joining only Joel Adams from this list in charting with their entry. Tanya Lacey and Lucie Silvas however from this section have both charted with other songs, and Tanya even auditioned for The Voice UK this year, appearing just a couple of weeks ago on the show. Eurovision reject song Like Lovers Do by Madeline Juno is nearer the bottom, alongside Cassie Steele who I recently found on an episode of Wolf Watch (the Teen Wolf after show) Also popping up here is my current entry from Chase Atlantic, which has the potential to climb higher in time! LIKE 46 Laura Jansen - Wicked World [BJSC 44] 47 Kristyna Myles - I'm Not Going Back [BJSC 47] 48 Eaves - Alone in My Mind [BJSC 80] 49 Shystie - Stop (feat. Jalissa) [BJSC 68] 50 Mischa Daniels - Can't Live Without You (feat. Sharon Doorson) [BJSC 61] Finally, the last batch. I don't hate any of these and I don't regret sending them, I just like them the least of all my entries. My second entry Wicked World by Laura Jansen was a song I knew a little while in advance, it's a quirky pop song but not one I return to much anymore, same goes for I'm Not Going Back (so quite an apt title?). I actually just listened to the latter for the first time in about 2 years! Alone in My Mind by Eaves stands out on the list for being absolutely nothing like what I've sent otherwise, but it's a really pleasant song and I do enjoy it. Rapper Shystie just dodges last place, ahead of DJ Mischa Daniels and singer Sharon Doorson. It's a solid dance pop tune but quite generic and I've not listened to it in quite a while now, but I don't regret it!
February 15, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the comments btw guys, both on Chase Atlantic and my previous summary post!
February 16, 20178 yr This was definitely not a sound I was expecting to hear from TARO Bellamia! I approve of it though, probably already one of my favourites of yours! Hope that this can do well for you x You still haven't topped tyDi as much of a mainstream whore choice as that is. x Your other highlights are probably Jesper Jenset and poor brave Sofía Reyes/Eaves.

March 21, 20178 yr Author Thanks to everyone who voted for Bite My Tongue, it's now through to the final of the contest! :D This marks the first time that we've been in all of the first three finals of the year. The Beach has recently released a new track (the b-side to Bite My Tongue essentially) called Bridge Back to Your Heart. It's more downtempo than Bite My Tongue but very good nevertheless! mbdfY1mbJSQ
March 28, 20178 yr Author Great song choice for this contest! Added straight onto my Spotify playlist! Glad you liked it so much Pete!
