Posted April 4, 201213 yr Which songs are lesser known or you struggle to remember what they go like despite reaching the summit? These stand out for me: "I feel for you" by Peter Andre #1 in Dec 1996: HHuprPm3Q4U "Bootie Call" by All Saints in 1998: oHI2WNGRA-k "Gym and Tonic" by Space Dust in the same year.....how did THIS go to #1? j6RQbhNQ6ko
April 4, 201213 yr Bootie Call is my favorite All Saints track, so definitely memorable for me  I think we need to differentiate what is memorable for us, and what is memorable for the general public.
April 4, 201213 yr Chicane feat. Bryan Adams - Never Give Up Oxide & Neutrino - Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty) Billie Piper - Day & Night A1 - Same Old Brand New You Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra - Touch Me Hear'Say - The Way To Your Love Westlife - Queen Of My Heart S Club 7 - Have You Ever Westlife - Unbreakable Brian McFadden - Real To Me Ja Rule feat. R Kelly & Ashanti - Wonderful ^ the above number 1s all made number 1 in the 21st century and I can safely say I've never heard of them (or in some cases, only heard of when youtubed) - I'm not using myself as a barometer of whats memorable or not of course :P but you would've thought they would've made some impression, but I genuinely never even hear a mention of them today, so I would call them pretty 'unmemorable' in this sense (forgive me if these are actually still heard everywhere and I just can't put a name to it :kink: ) of course there are many from the 06 period onwards that are just as forgettable but I remember as I've been following charts since then, that god awful cover of Walk This Way by Girls Aloud & Sugababes and that Islands In The Stream single from 2009 spring to mind... April 4, 201213 yr There have been plenty of these over the years but I guess it's subjective. It would be interesting to track down all those teenage girls who bought 'I Feel You' by Peter Andre and ask them to sing the song. I wonder how many even remember the chorus, yet alone the verses!!! :kink: Totally agree with JoinWithUs, I'd regard it as the biggest non #1 of all time. No redeeming features at all. Even Westlife's least memorable single is better than this. :D
April 4, 201213 yr BILLIE PIPER  Day & Night >>>>>>>>>>> Life. What a classic <3 I'd argue Pixie Lott's Boys & Girls as one, it sold even less than Cry Me Out irrc (which peaked 11 places lower) and nobody really remembers it. Mama Do perhaps fits here as well.
April 4, 201213 yr Touch Me is definitely not unmemorable, its regarded as a dance classic and its still played a lot even today
April 4, 201213 yr Did 'Never Leave You' go to #1 in 2009? If it did, there's one. It did, another one from 2009 is Oopsy Daisy by Chipmunk, what a rife year for non-number 1s, we've come up with 4 more or less right away
April 4, 201213 yr I'd argue Pixie Lott's Boys & Girls as one, it sold even less than Cry Me Out irrc (which peaked 11 places lower) and nobody really remembers it. Should be noted that similarly Nero's 'Promises' didn't sell as much 'Guilt' (#8) or even 'Me And You' (#15), which were both released in the same year so it's not even as if it's down to different sales environments.
April 4, 201213 yr Just a thought, but if all these songs are unmemorable how do we remember them?? hehe.
April 4, 201213 yr Author It did, another one from 2009 is Oopsy Daisy by Chipmunk, what a rife year for non-number 1s, we've come up with 4 more or less right away  Was very annoyed that beat The Saturdays with "Forever is Over" :arrr: That Amele and Tinchy song is very unmemorable indeed....however, it's a great song and I have the CD single doing the rounds somewhere. I was going to say that Ja Rule ft Ashanti thing....they ALWAYS performed together on a track. I heard rumours about them - but whether they were true or not is debatable. "The Hindu Times" by Oasis - I do NOT even remember how this goes! RSLPbl8Nigk I am sure this was a mass buy by Oasis fans.
April 4, 201213 yr I don't think I've heard that either, what a shame considering Stop Crying Your Heart Out & Little By Little in the same year both fell short at 2 :(
April 4, 201213 yr Author I don't think I've heard that either, what a shame considering Stop Crying Your Heart Out & Little By Little in the same year both fell short at 2 :( Agreed. I remember at the time thinking it was an anti-buy from people to stop Gareth Gates getting another week @ #1.
April 4, 201213 yr Touch Me is definitely not unmemorable, its regarded as a dance classic and its still played a lot even today Agreed. This can be easily regarded as a classic.
April 4, 201213 yr Oasis did have a knack of releasing absolute cack as the lead single (Hindu Times, Lyla) knowing it would be number one and the album would open with huge sales whatever, then start releasing decent songs after to keep the album selling steadily. Diana Vickers 'Once' has to be up there!
April 4, 201213 yr 'Once' used to get played in my gym all the time. I'd say an obvious one is Mcfly - Baby's Coming Back
April 4, 201213 yr Author 'Once' used to get played in my gym all the time. I'd say an obvious one is Mcfly - Baby's Coming Back I do like McFly, but even I don't know that song! One from October 2006....My Chemical Romance - "Welcome to the black parade" - This is as random as you'll get: kDWgsQhbaqU&ob=av2e
April 4, 201213 yr WHAAAAT MCR, a classic EDIT: Indeed what M.I.É. said It might not be memorable in the sense of super catchy chorus a la second-rate Pixie Lott song but it's super catchy, epic and astounding in its own way. Edited April 4, 201213 yr by SKOB
