Somebody That I Used To Know just needs to f*** right off already. The way people jizz over it you'd think it was a revolutionary masterpiece, it really really isn't.

It is a good song though, just it feels so old now because I bought it in summer 2011.

I wish people would move on to the equally good "Easy Way Out" which has a brilliant video:

I still just absolutely adore STIUTK, despite having first heard it in July 2011. It didn't even start growing on me until Septemeber, and it wasn't until December that I fully began to love it, and I still haven't stopped now! That's unusual for me, usually once a song has been overplayed I'll go off it like some kind of hipster
I love Somebody That I Used to Know. I've never really heard a song like it before. We need stuff like that in the charts.
'Starships' video will premiere Monday/Tuesday I think and she's been confirmed for Graham Norton on the Friday of that week... 59p reduction and BAM, number 1 will be hers. (Or at least I can dream :heehee:)
I'm already hearing Nicki's next single on the radio now. She should just release the music video next week and leave it at that. Starships doesn't deserve any more attention now.

What's her next single? 'Va Va Voom'? I know she's shot (or shooting) a video for that.
I believe it's Right By Your Side. Personally, I'd prefer Marilyn Monroe or Pound the Alarm, but ho hum.

Well, it's Right By My Side that I hear all the time. But I just checked their playlist, and the Nicki songs they have on there are I'm the Best and Roman in Moscow.

They can't release Pound the Alarm right after Starships. Marilyn Monroe would've been good though.

Right By My Side went top 20 on US iTunes, so it's the clear choice I think.

'Right By My Side' is likely to be just for Urban radio in the US/a US release. I can see a different song for the European release. More likely 'Va Va Voom' or 'Pound The Alarm'. 'Marilyn Monroe' will be a future single according to Nicki, too. (PTA is her favourite track from the album)

EDIT: Maybe with a video RBMS could be a hit along with the European released song or something? (Similar to the way 'Titanium' and 'Turn Me On' looked to be big hits at approximately the same time)

Yes, for the US. I don't think its the best choice for the UK. I think 'Va Va Voom' or 'Young Forever' would be the best options.

It would be a shame if Nicki's label thinks that lowly of Europe that they think they have to release Pound the Alarm to get a hit here. We've got We Are Young, Somebody That I Used to Know, Boyfriend, Climax and 212 currently in our top 10 on iTunes. Nicki can risk something a bit less commercial for the UK I think.

Yeah, those two songs aren't bad. I think Va Va Voom would've made a much better lead single than Starships.

Not really. I'm pretty sure 'Pound The Alarm' is possibly the most loved from the album... So it's surely the logical choice?

Pound the Alarm got cherrypicked the most in the UK, so I think that suggests it's the most popular here.

100% this.

Sad to see Justin dropping. Hope he holds #3 at least this week to match Baby's peak.

I dont think Starships will get to #1 now but if the video comes out it should keep the sales up a bit, its looking to break the 400k sales mark next week, i think it could make the top 20 best selling songs this year.
I don't think anyone ever said "Somebody That I Used To Know" was particularly revolutionary, it steals from a load of alt and soft rock acts from the 70s and 80s but that in itself is pretty unique in the charts now.
In the past few years there's not been anything in the charts that's been revolutionary anyway. Somebody That I Used to Know is one of the closest songs we've got to that I think.

75. RIP feat. Tinnie Tempah & Drake - Rita Ora

Illegal release I assume, especially as 'Tinie' is spelled wrong (and of course Drake isn't even on it) The fact this is already so high and climbing very quickly bodes well for the real thing to be huge  #1 please.

87. We Are Young (Full Tribute) - Rainbow Mix

Finally falling quickly, but why is this still top 100?! (And why have they added a 'Full Tribute' tag? Odd).

100. Heartbeat - Childish Gambino

This is not his best song by a long shot ('All The Shine' and 'Bonfire' were both far better) but if it has a chance of getting Childish Gambino an official top 100 hit I'm all for this!

I think STIUTK has done so well BECAUSE it's not revolutionary. These sort of songs do so well precisely because everybody likes them and they offend absolutely no one. It was the same with "Moves Like Jagger" and it'll be the same with "We Are Young".
