Midweek chart: Marina holding off Lana Del Rey's challenge for No.1 album, Tulisa running away with No.1 single

Source: MW

Marina & The Diamonds' new album Electra Heart is on course to become Sunday's No.1 album in the UK, according to the latest Official Charts Company sales data.

The LP leads its nearest rival, Lana Del Rey's Born To Die, by just under 4,000 units.

Jack White's Blunderbuss, the No.1 on the last Official Charts Sunday, is currently sitting in third spot, ahead of Norah Jones' new album, Little Broken Hearts - another new entry.

Adele's 21 resides at No.5 ahead of Alabama Shakes, whilst Marilyn Manson's comeback LP, Born Villain, is looking good for a Top 10 debut - sitting at No.7 in the Midweeks.

Tulisa's Young leads the Singles Midweek chart, with over 30,000 sales more than Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe to the end of Tuesday. Cover Drive's Sparks is a new entry at No.3.

Tulisa for #1 I guess, at least Gotye gets to keep the longest reign at #1 of the year so far.

With album sales been so low in the past few weeks Marina could get a #1 album, unless Jack White claims a second week at the top, Lana Del Rey is also a possibility.

I have a feeling Marina will be the #1 album this week, there seems to be more hype this time round than with The Family Jewels' era! I think Jack White could well hold onto #2 though...

Im hoping Electra Heart at least sells more than Jack White did. we are just getting #1 albums which in the long run are going to sell very little.

could fun be becoming the new maroon 5 but the #3 version?!!!

I didn't even know Tulisa had a song out????

Is it any good?

I'm quite shocked at Marina being #1, I was expecting another low top 5 position - of course her sales will probably be pretty appalling for a #1 but whatever they are they'll probably still be higher than I expected! Will be interesting to see how far Jack White falls this week, he could still be #2 (or #3/4 depending on Norah and/or Lana) but I wouldn't be that surprised if he's already fallen behind Adele despite beating her 2.5-1 last week.

Who would have thought Marina would even be in contention for a #1 with her second album though when the seemingly massively hyped first one only got to #5 and all of her singles underperformed :o What sales did TFJ open with?

Good to see Marina and the Diamonds triumphing in a low album sale climate - hopefully she can still sell well in the long run though, 'Primadonna' is looking to grab a third week in the top fifteen this week, so the album's lead single is already doing better than the last's.
