"2004, November, for Comic Relief..." <_<

They must have updated the online database or something then, to explain why half the songs in this chart say they come from that month...although this one was released five months later, so that makes even less sense.

Who the f*** bought this in the noughties?

I did, I think it was the first song we ever bought as a family

I still think this is one of the best charity records ever, an inspired and creative cover version and video

07. Tony Christie (feat. Peter Kay) - Amarillo

Peak // #1 (2005)

Oh, here comes some not very welcome novelty! The original from 1971, performed by Tony Christie, only reaching #18. But, with the help of comedian Peter Kay and Comic Relief, and a few marching dwarfs. It spent 7 weeks at #1 somehow, and is #7 on this list!

Not a cover version, technically.

MLJ. Surely the highest non-#1?

Still love this

This single has always been a bit of a mystery to me - the extent that people loved it. I liked it, but that was it.

06. Maroon 5 (feat. Christina Aguilera) - Moves Like Jagger

Peak // #2 (2011)

Is this the highest #2 of the countdown? I don't know, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to these sort of things - but who'd have thought Maroon 5 would've come relevant last year, or Christina in a sense after Not Myself Tonight being such a disaster. Such a basic track, seems unbelievable it's done so well, but I'm sure this will be stuck in my head for the rest of the night.

Totally mystified at the success at this to this day. And outselling Amarillo, Hallelujah, Band Aid 20?!

I agree with this. I don't even find it that catchy or anything. And those low squeaky synths annoy me tbh, they sound out of place.

But it was good to see Christina back in the charts at any rate.

Ok, there's at least three songs in this top 5 that are deserved (IMHO) and this is one of them :D First year of secondary school memories!!
