Who remembers this song and this advert? lol

I was wondering, why isn't there ever any asian music in the charts? So many people listen to those styles of music in this country, yet I never see any of those songs in the chart, not even in the top 200.

Surprised to see them that close to #1, especially since their sales fell 20% to just 52k last week.

It's too late for them to challenge for overall #1 this week, of course - and The Wanted will surely smash all opposition next week. Beyond that, WAY is likely to be selling 35k at best - far too low to have any chance at #1.

I can't imagine that Rita Ora has dropped anywhere near that far though so maybe their sales are static?

351. Nicki Minaj feat Chris Brown - Right By My Side

Hopefully the video can start to impact soon!

fun. covering STIUTK makes sense :P Maybe Gotye could get a seventeenth week top 10 to match the 21st century record then (and pass the million before leaving the top 10, although it cheated a bit by selling before it entered as well) :o

-x-

Some updates:

 22. Princess of China - Coldplay & Rihanna

 38. Hush Little Baby (feat. Ed Sheeran) - Wretch 32

Great to see both of these looking certain to massively outperform their questionable last single choices. Coldplay could re-peak this week if they keep climbing at this pace and 'Hush Little Baby' should easily outpeak 'Forgiveness' this week :D

Ben Howard still at #25, I thought he would have begun to tail off by now as the Made In Chelsea boost fades, I suppose Jools Holland may have helped a bit but he didn't perform this. ('The Wolves' at #82).

Update on the fast fallers:

 54. Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts

 78. Turn to You (Mother's Day Dedication) - Justin Bieber

I may not be quite right about Bieber dropping out of the top 100 within a week of release but he's definitely looking like dropping out before next week's new releases come out.

51. I Don't Want to Be - Gavin DeGraw

No one answered me the other day when I asked why this is back :P I just looked on YouTube and it seems to be something to do with One Tree Hill. Whatever that is.

64. Brick (feat. Garry Sandhu) - GV

Someone (Eric?) mentioned just the other day about how there's never any Asian music in the chart - and along comes a random Asian song into the top 100 :P

97. Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush

Potentially 3 Kate Bush re-entries into the top 100 within less than 2 months! (Other returning oldies from 59p effect in the top 100: 'Under The Bridge' #47, 'Ironic' #48, 'Teardrop' #55 (), 'American Boy' #58, 'There You'll Be' #61, 'Here I Go Again' #69, 'Video Games' #71 (not really an oldie I know), 'Golden Brown' #93, 'I'm Not Alone' #95 (), 'A Horse With No Name' #99).

Edited by Bré

The 3rd best song of all time re-entering the top 100 is very welcome

That's Wuthering Heights ofc :P

158. Nicki Minaj feat Chris Brown - Right By My Side

160. Jay Z & Kanye West feat Frank Ocean - No Church In The Wild

195. Drake feat Lil Wayne - HYFR (Hell Ya F***ing Right)

All future singles climbing quite fast now!

200. ADELE - Rumour Has It

Could it be the US success having an effect in the UK? Wasn't this high last time I checked.

383. Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm

Surprised this is still lingering in the top 400. Hopefully it will get the single treatment because it's a great song!

No one answered me the other day when I asked why this is back :P I just looked on YouTube and it seems to be something to do with One Tree Hill. Whatever that is.

Yeah, it's the theme tune to One Tree Hill, which airs it's last ever episode, in the UK on Monday. And, on the advert for the episode - all the cast members are singing this theme tune, so the song will probably continue to rise on Monday when the episode airs, because the episode ends with them singing this song I think.

Donna Summer has died. Cue immediate speculation on iTunes boosts.

(R.I.P., not exactly a huge fan of Donna but always sad to see a legend leave us :()

Edited by Bré

*waits for Kobbar to complain she died too early to take advantage of the chart week*

R.I.P. though, a true legend with some great songs even though she was before my time :(

What terrible news about Donna Summer, I did not know she was ill. Loved her Disco classics-I Feel Love, Hot Stuff, She Works Hard.

RIP.

Donna... :(

I'm expecting a lot of re-entries - I Feel Love, She Works Hard For The Money, MacArthur Park, Last Dance, On The Radio, Love To Love You Baby... so many classics.

R.I.P. though, a true legend with some great songs even though she was before my time :(

Agreed.

As for the timing - well, the biggest boost happens over the first couple of days after the news hits the media.
