Why are people so against songs having one week at #1? Everytime I come on this thread there's people whinging and complaining saying "I don't want ____ to be #1 because it'll just be a one week wonder" and "oh I hope ____ remains at #1 because I hate songs being #1 for a week". What's the problem? Surely it's more interesting to have lots of different #1's? Why would you want to see the same song at #1 for ages? It makes it more exciting having proper battles for the top spot instead of the same song dominating. Do people actually get annoyed or frustrated if a song only spends a week at #1?

I agree with what you said

I agree.

Personally I prefer songs to have short runs at #1, but them having long runs doesn't bother me that much, especially if it's a song I love (e.g. Somebody That I Used to Know).

The constant scaremongering and whining in this thread about this is more annoying than any song's chart run imo.

I just don't want Rita to have only 1 week at #1 because I really like the song and two weeks is more of an achievement than one week. I generally don't mind one week #1s (although it gets a bit ridiculous when there's like 10 of them in a row, so you end up with endless forgettable #1s and usually some long-running #2/3 hits that sell far more and are remembered better) but I don't want R.I.P. to be one.

Brilliant to see 'Niggas In Paris' climbing again, although that'll be partially down to the weekend effect as well as their tour - the tour explains why 'Watch The Throne' is suddenly back in the iTunes albums top 10 though. Hopefully WTT will re-enter the official top 40 again soon with 'No Church In The Wild' becoming a hit as well as the tour going on :D

I don't mind one week number 1's, I'd just prefer it if they had a bit of longevity. The Wanted, JLS, style chart runs are so ninteresting and make them seem like they're not worthy of number 1. A chart run is far better looking when it's something like 1-3-3-4-8-9-6-13-19-20-27-40 as opposed to the standard front loaded, one weekers which go something like 1-6-19-32-37.
Niggas in Paris  #36, looks like the tour is helping.

They should release Pitbull's remix of it on iTunes:

I think if there's a different number one each week it sort of devalues it, and although I don't particularly mind it, that's why people disapprove of one week number 1s. I don't really care what's number one to be completely honest.
Wow, i didnt know We are young was going to be performed on The Voice today

The Wanted's #1 chart runs are closer to the former than the latter. What ever happened to McFly being the example act for this sort of thing? :P

Wow. fun. for #1 then. :cheer:

I'm glad for three reasons. Firstly because I said for so long before that the song would get to #1, and I didn't want to be wrong. Secondly just to shut up the whiners on here. Thirdly because it's a good song.

Both The Wanted's #1s had really good chart runs:

Glad You Came: 1-1-2-3-6-10-12-19-25-27-34-37-37

All Time Low: 1-5-8-10-15-19-24-14-23-22-28-36-34-28-36-40-xx-34

Everybody on here insists they have terrible chart runs, but that's completely false, at least with their #1s. If they reach #1 next week, and the song spends 5 weeks in the top 10, people on here will STILL claim everything The Wanted release is frontloaded.

JLS have good chart runs aswell. Their only bad one is The Club is Alive:

Beat Again: 1-1-2-4-7-12-13-17-23-26-33-38-36-28-31-35-xx-33-xx-34

Everybody in Love: 1-3-6-11-16-25-25-22-15-30

She Makes Me Wanna: 1-2-2-9-14-16-16-25-38

The Club is Alive: 1-7-9-16-23-32-39

I remember people predicting that She Makes Me Wanna would have a bigger fall than The Club is Alive (which means falling 1-8 or more), and it instead went 1-2-2, yet I heard NO praise for that. If She Makes Me Wanna DID fall 1-8 like some of you said it would, you'd be going on about it for years, but it has a good chart run and you all just completely dismiss it?

Bad chart runs for #1s last year were Wishing on a Star and Promises, for example. She Makes Me Wanna's was fine, and Glad You Came's chart run was fantastic.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of either group, 'Glad You Came' and 'She Makes Me Wanna' I do both like, so their healthy chartruns are deserved :D

So happy to see Fun at #1!! Really hope it stays there for Sunday...I had a horrible feeling it wouldn't quite be the huge chart-topper it deserves to be. Easily my song of the year so far!

Maybe We Are Young might get a huge lead after that performance, like Just the Way You Are did (both were #1 on iTunes already before the performances). I'm not watching though, so I don't know if it was good.
Somebody That I Used To Know being performed on The Voice

Should see it top 10 for another week :D
