June 21, 201213 yr Author BEYONCE FEATURING JAY Z- DEJA VU- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7d/Deja_Vu.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 4 It didn't even clock up an opening sale of 30k but it took advantage of a limp and dying "Hips Don't Lie" to steal a week at the top, if I remeber correctly there was discontent from fans over the release of this single as the first single for the "Bday" album, though I admit the Freemasons remix of this bucks it up big time (but when don't they?) June 21, 201213 yr Author MCFLY- STAR GIRL- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/99/Stargirl1.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 3 By now you'll note that they weren't even getting near the No 1 spot in this thread as the singles start to, in reality, become far less of a "real" hit. The irony here is that Star Girl started out with a sale of 54k, the highest first week of any McFly single with the exception of "It's All About You" but that bright start was followed by a 1-9-19 slide that told its own tale, worse was to come! hx0WcCzjbT8
June 21, 201213 yr Star Girl being McFly's 2nd best song (after It's All About You). Shame it wasn't even close to staying at number 1! (though hardly a shocker).
June 21, 201213 yr Author AKON FEATURING EMINEM- SMACK THAT- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/Akon_ft._eminem_smack_that.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 I must admit that I thought it would be Westlife's "The Rose" that would give way in the run of one week wonders at the end of 06 but in the end Akon is the one who just runs out of chart weeks before Take That's impressive burst to the top makes it a non starter and its a third lost No 1 for Eminem into the bargain. bKDdT_nyP54

June 21, 201213 yr Author Star Girl being McFly's 2nd best song (after It's All About You). Shame it wasn't even close to staying at number 1! (though hardly a shocker). I don't mind "Star Girl" (if only for its playfulness lyrically) but their No 1 singles runs was getting ridiculous by 2006! :(
June 21, 201213 yr I don't mind "Star Girl" (if only for its playfulness lyrically) but their No 1 singles runs was getting ridiculous by 2006! :( It's hard to believe how much staying power McFly had with 'Shine A Light' in 2010. A McFly single that actually stuck around for more than one month - I bet even the McFly lads were gobsmacked. Then again, it featured flavour of the month Taio Cruz so perhaps that might explain its success. It was definitely one of their better singles too. Despite having some shocking chart runs, I always preferred McFly to the dreadful Busted.
June 21, 201213 yr ooh, I approve of most of those demotions bar the Arctics - Beyonce's song was incredibly average and the McFly double-a-side and Akon were VILE :puke: nice to see MCR keep their number 1 status for a week at least :D I still do like Star Girl though - it used to make me feel a lot happier on a Friday morning
June 21, 201213 yr Fedde le Grand 3 weeks at #1    If only this happened in real life! Also great to see Shakira spend 8 weeks at #1, it says so much about how MASSIVE it was at the time.
June 21, 201213 yr Author So how many no.1s did Westlife lose? Not as many as I thought they would. Thought or hoped? They lost 6 in the end.
June 21, 201213 yr Thought or hoped? They lost 6 in the end. I was hoping they'd lose about 10. Some of their more forgettable tracks still retained their status. Nice to see McFly will also lose 6.........out of 7.
June 21, 201213 yr Okay, I am NOT happy about Deja Vu or Smack That. :coffee: And looking at 2007's #1s, I'm worried about Give It to Me. Such a legendary song, but it only got 1 week, and just before Beautiful Liar which was massive (and another great song ). And I wonder if Foundations will get #1 this way? I know that spent ages at #2, and got very close to #1 a couple of times, but it was behind Umbrella and The Way I Are I think. It could be tough. Another interesting one will be With Every Heartbeat, as it got 1 week and sandwiched between The Way I Are and Stronger, which were both very big. I wasn't following the charts then, so I don't really know what's going to happen here.
June 22, 201213 yr Good to see Welcome to the Black Parade just about stick it out - surprised at Smack That though, was actually a genuinely big song but Eminem does have a habit of sailing too close to the wind in terms of Q4 releases. What a pity that Akon's sole #1 (excluding Just Dance) is now Lonely.
June 22, 201213 yr Author GIRLS ALOUD VS SUGABABES- WALK THIS WAY- NON NUMBER ONE http://991.com/newGallery/Girls-Aloud-Walk-This-Way-390772.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 It opened with a non too shoddy (for 2007 anyway) figure of 51k but was never really going to compete with the "Unofficial" comic relief single for that year, and a quick stint in the upper reaches moving 1-2-14 meant that the song was virtually forgotten about quicker than Comic Relief that year. June 22, 201213 yr Author TIMBALAND FEATURING NELLY FURTADO & JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e3/GiveittoMeTimbaland.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 By the time Timbaland had erroded the lead of "I'm Gonna Be" it had been overtaken by "Beautiful Liar" which is the track which eventually causes this songs demotion. It did hang around literally forever but never had big sales in any particular week putting in a performance of just 27k during its week at No 1 in the real world. 1-mucbYVoLI
June 22, 201213 yr Author NEW NUMBER ONE- 21.04.07 AVRIL LAVIGNE- GIRLFRIEND- 1 Wk http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/68/Avril_Lavigne_Girlfriend_album_cover.jpg Here's a little surprise I see no-one predicted! In this thread it isn't Timbaland but Avril that deposes The Proclaimers after 4 weeks and by a margin of just 1k as well! Her sale of 40k+ whilst in her second week at No 2 is enough to give the edge over the incoming Timbaland and the fast fading "I'm Gonna Be" b5u0vjsR4z8
June 22, 201213 yr I had a suspicion that Avril might get promoted but then decided against it! I had hoped The Sweet Escape may have been promoted, but alas it's not to be!
