I agree... "Just Give Me A Reason" will always be the UK #1 that never was to me, especially when it had like 3 versions in the iTunes top 40 at one point!

Well that's a great choice for promotion if I've ever seen one, certainly felt like a huge track at the time (plus it's a brilliant song). Earnt far more of a prestigious status than PJ & Duncan did, I don't think I've ever seen a #1 get forgotten quicker.

As much as I HATE that P!nk song I will admit that it deserved #1 over '…Rhumble' in terms of sales and longevity, thank gawd that it never actually made #1 though, I don't like the song at all!

T Boy is certainly happy! I wasn't sure it would make it here because in thought the 2 no.1s either sider PJ & Duncan might have held it off. Truly deserved and it makes the blow of losing JLAP here a little softer.

Not exactly a low selling track (this sold over 350k in a 21 day period) it was sandwiched between bigger sellers (namely "Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines" and it's not the last of the summer's big tracks to get demoted here!....

Another sure fire No 1 on the real chart this only managed one week ahead of "Blurred Lines" which here claims its revenge and racks up a total of 6 weeks as the nations No 1 here.....

 

YAY at 'I Love It' being demoted. :D

 

Shame about 'La La La' but not really unexpected considering its circumstances - it's still likely to be a million seller in the near future so it's not exactly done badly for itself.

Only two chart toppers debut at the top on this chart, one of them put paid to John Newman's No 1 "Love Me Again". Now fondly (ahem) remembered as the week the iTunes thread stanned hard for him, here he loses out to Avicii's "Wake Me Up" with a mighty first week sale of 266k some 9 k ahead of Newman's three week total.

 

Not liking these recent demotions. :(

Grrrr. I knew La La La would be demoted :(

The rules clearly need to be amended to exclude singles that sell 900,000 copies within 12 months from being non-number 1s. :D

I suppose La La La is like a Moves Like Jagger equivalent in this thread: huge selling song that just couldn't make the summit in the time frame.

As many predicted it's curtains for Storm Queen on this thread where it can't quite manage to squeeze past Eminem's "Monster" not helped of course by its 1-6-7-15 chart run. It's stabilised since but only time will tell if it's remembered or not.

Much like Storm Queen, another record which had a terrible run (initially) for a No 1 moving 1-6-10-9-13 which has enabled it to make this thread. Indeed it only beat Ellie Goulding to the No 2 spot by less than 400 copies.

I'd rank 2013 about as good as it's ever got for number one singles, but the ones demoted tended to be some of the better ones, apart from Calvin they'd all be in my top half.
