Becoming the first X Factor winning single to not make No 1 on this thread, in truth Ben was up against "Uptown Funk" which was perhaps the first real challenge sales wise to the coronation single (with the exception of Rage Against The Machine obviously) so this plays an important factor. Perhaps this is a record that he'd rather not have......

 

I only wish the stop the X-Factor campaigns had rallied behind "Uptown Funk" because that deserved to be the Christmas Number One, however the streaming Christmas #1 and 'Big Top 40' Christmas #1 was indeed Mark Ronson, so we can just conveniently ignore the OCC chart for this week and pretend it never happened!

Band Aid 30 getting 3 weeks at #1 here despite their first 3 weeks being among the worst of the year's #1s. I guess that's just the power of enormous first week sales.

Would've been nice to see a couple of songs be promoted to #1 but I can see why that didn't happen. So 24 #1s in the end, compared to 23 in 2013 and 27 in 2012 from the previous installments of the thread. I also checked 2000 since it had similar turnover of official #1, and 2000 ended up with 30 #1s in this thread. Interesting!

Presumably because everything in 2000 was frontloaded, even the long runners.

I'm expecting

3 weeks at #1 for 'King', replacing 'Lay Me Down', and 'Shine' promoted in place of 'House Every Weekend'.

 

 

Would not be surprised if

'See You Again' became a non-number one given 'Cheerleader' was right behind it and had a 4 weeks at #1 after.

I hope Shine gets a week at #1. It's outsold the song that beat it to #1 by 100k now.

Well believe it or not the first half of the year remains untouched with songs only gaining or losing the odd week here and there- onwards to July. The nearest we get to a demotion is when Tinie Tempah & Jess Glynne's "Not Letting Go" keep their week at No 1 by only 669 copies!

Not helped by the 5 day chart week we had in July this track ended up around 11k behind "Black Magic" under this calculation. It also failed to get past Years & Year's "Shine" which misses out on promotion by a mere 1.3k in case you wondered.
