Watching some of that video just makes me realise just how much they need Una. Rochelle is doing really well for herself now Vanessa isn't as good as she once was and Una has taken a break. Vanessa doing Una's *.* note during 'Higher' turned it into a o_O note! It was terrible! I couldn't watch any more of it! I feel so sad. :(

That's exactly what I thought. Vanessa's high note especially... :/ Of course Vanessa struggled with every other note she did at that gig anyway!! :(

Vanessa needs to get herself sorted out. They can't go to America and put on performances like that. She should have took singing lessons/rested/worked on her vocals this year.

Well her first naturally got deeper as she got older (she was only like, 19 during Chasing Lights) and i'd imagine she was using some pretty bad technique, didn't rest or warm up properly, kept drinking and smoking heavily, done that Popstar to Operastar thing (that must have had some sort of effect on her voice considering it was such a dramatic change of singing) and then whenever she had time off she didn't bother taking lessons to repair it and it's steadily got worse. She can't do the middle 8 in Ego anymore, she can't do the "look in my eyes do you recognize me?" parts in Notorious properly, she can't even deliver the "i put my head against the speakers" line properly and has to get into falsetto before the last chorus. The Vanessa of 2009 would have delivered those lines with ease.

As a result, as shown in '30 Days', Rochelle is getting all the 'big parts' not Vanessa. In fact, Vanessa got an unbelievably small solo. Hopefully their next single will also relegate her. I don't want her attempting to sing the high notes when their trying to break America.

 

It is also noticeable that Rochelle occasionally sings some of Vanessa's parts in 'Notorious' and no doubt will continue with others songs if she continues to struggle.

Veering off topic a bit (well not really, it's to do with the single):

 

I have been obsessed with this song by Korean girlgroup 2NE1 recently, they are fantastic and it came up in the K-Pop thread in the pop forum and I thought this is just what The Saturdays need:

 

I just the production used in some Asian pop tracks are brilliant comapred to Western artists, if The Sats could get a bit of that (obviously singing in English :P) it'd be fantastic for them! Or they'd still get a #8 SMASH but y'know.

They never said that. Rochelle said it was going to be released at the end of the summer. Most people consider the end of the summer as the first week of September not the last one of August. Anyway, Summer actually ends on the 20-23th September. If you keep that in mind, they still have lot of time to premiere the song, but I have to agree with you on the fact that they could give us some news regarding the single, indeed. A name would be great, first. Maybe a premiere date/release date, too. A cover will also be quite amazing.

It's so frustrating. You obviously know more than us about the song (I reckon they asked you to remix it. I can't wait to hear it btw : your remixes are always lush.), but you're also not allowed to say a single thing I guess. :P

I'm staying relatively optimistic about it, I have no doubt it will very likely be great and I'll love it, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for it to be good enough to have success beyond one or two weeks top 10 and stop them being labelled flops, even just for 5 minutes. It's at least encouraging that 2ndAdventure and the other people in the know have been all positive.

not being funny but I think Mollie was definitely the best vocalist there and I think they fell apart without una. Its obvious she Pulls the

group together! But I still love them no matter what haha

To be fair to the other girls, Mollie gets easy parts to sing. So, yes, she always sounds good live because she's consistent. But that's not a reason to take the credits off because Frankie also got easy parts, for example, but she fails at doing them "correctly" (Plus, Mollie always sounds better when she's covering Frankie). She's the least decent live, for sure. Rochelle and Una have to sing the difficult parts of their songs and it's not like they were that bad at it. They might not come across as better live than Mollie - let's say - but that is because their part in the group is bigger and harder and they will always have one note wrong. Give Una's parts to Mollie and Rochelle's to Frankie and they are done. Rochelle and Una are definitely good.

Then, we're left with Vanessa...I don't even know what to say about her. She was amazing back then, REALLY amazing...She's not anymore, that's it. She's hit and miss towards notes and her tone is just bland now. (Listen to 30 Days, Frankie and Mollie got a lore more interresting tones than her.)

Well, I don't expect them to got a success like Black Heart from StooShe because The Saturdays won't ever come near the top 5 radio airplay unlike their friends here, but a chartrun like (#4 - #8 - #10 - #16 - etc would be great). If it can have the longevity Higher had, it would be really more than enough for me. 250-300k, and it's perfect.

Dramatic and overreading her Tweet much? Rochelle said they had something exciting to announce soon which is doubtless the show they're doing for the E! channel in America so they'd hardly be announcing a split at this stage in the game.

As good as they've always been live IMO.
