Is there some reason as to why it can't just be DELETED now? Rather that than releasing it early (I just want whatever will give it the best shot of going to #1)

I think it has to do with whether a song has been released yet anywhere in the world.

When Cheryl's record company got her fake deleted, it hadn't been released yet anywhere. However Maroon 5 and Flo Rida have already been released in other territories, and legally, anyone can cover anyone's song provided they don't change anything.

The original artists and publishers are due revenue from these fakes, but most don't bother cos it costs too much to chase them down.

Someone can correct me, but I think that's the gist of it  .

An odd selection of songs to quote positions for.

I've just seen the video for Marina's 'Power & Control' though.

Dot Rotten is back up to #17 :o Really surprised at how well he's holding up. Nelly Furtado is also holding up nicely at #18. I thought these would both have dropped to the low 20s at least by this point.

Tyler James back up to #32 also :D

Payphone won't go to no.1. It's Maroon 5 and I refuse to get my hopes up.

I think that they are upcoming singles, although it does seem like a wierd selection! :P

Maroon 5's record label really are silly sausages.

They are obviously desperate for a #1. Which makes it more amusing that they have no chance now!

Marina $ma$hing then!

I know its not much now but its been climbing relatively fast over the past day

Payphone fake  #7

Heart Attack  #21

Kanye West (Jay-Z, Bon Iver, Rick Ross & Nicki Minaj) - Monster #770  Should be #1 worldwide for the rest of time tbh :coffee:

I can only assume Maroon 5's record label will purposely wait until Sunday to release 'Payphone' as it's guaranteed a full week's sales, and clearly the demand is there so it's bound to rocket up to no. 1 like 'Call My Name' has.

However, like all great built up singles they sell massively in week 1 then struggle to keep up the momentum from week 2 onwards.

'Call My Name' and 'Payphone' will both only spend one week at the top despite the big first week sales. Wouldn't be at all surprised if 'Whistle' ends up no. 1 the week after 'Payphone' debuts there.

Yeah. They're all going to be in the charts in a couple of months (well, a couple will maybe flop though).

Oh dear at the fake Payphone, do they think a few days sales of a fake won't hurt the original much? I think they won't be very pleased this time next week!

I think even if it does get to number 1 (still a decent chance), it won't come anywhere near Moves Like Jagger's longevity and be selling less than it within a few months
