Interesting topic of discussion - predicting the 'big' hits of July-December. Obviously Gaga has a lot to prove with the third album - although still incredibly successful, her chart performance in the UK wasn't up to usual standards (i.e. no #1s and 'Marry the Night' couldn't reach the top 10 despite a high profile X-Factor slot). I'm sure if released ahead of X-Factor +/or performed on one of the live shows she'll claim another #1.

 

We've still got an album full of potential hits from will.i.am on the way too - I'm hoping 'This is Love' will grab the number-one in a fortnight's time, but some big names have been rumoured to appear on the album. We've also got Tulisa and Dappy's next singles. Dappy in particular is an interesting one - the third single was rumoured to feature The Wanted and the fourth to feature Adele (though the validity of these claims is dubitable).

Is Lady Gaga actually going to release new material during the next 6 months? In my opinion, she needs to take a break from music a bit, so that the public start to miss her. Some of my favourite artists, such as the Black Eyed Peas and Eminem took very long breaks (~3 years), and came back still very successful (Boom Boom Pow and Crack a Bottle both went straight to #1 in the US, and they've actually had MORE #1s since after their breaks than they did before :lol:), so Lady Gaga should do the same. I think she should wait until 2016/2017 to release a new album.

 

Tulisa and Little Mix's next singles, I'm pretty sure are both going to be urban songs, so I think they'll miss #1. Or they'll have shorter chart runs at least, as they'll obviously not be such radio hits.

 

Dappy just cracks me up tbh. :lol: NO WAY will Adele collab with him. At most he might just sample one of her songs. If any mainstream rapper sampled Hometown Glory and released it as a single it would go to #1 easily.

 

will.i.am's album, he has a song with Swedish House Mafia, so that might be big. I've also heard some of Mona Lisa Smile. I can see that being a big hit possibly.

For most people, Lady Gaga is already on a break. I know she's on her worldwide tour, but she hasn't got a single on the radio for what seems to be ages (was it "You and I"?) and her last real smash was a long time ago.

If she comes back at the end of the year that's fine, if she waits longer I fear she could be seen as an act from the past !

Pound the Alarm will not go to #1. :lol: Similar to the situation with Where Have You Been, it's not that liked in the real world. I think PTA will chart at #3.

I can assure you that both Pound The Alarm and Where Have You Been are popular in the real world. Perhaps not around you, but in general, yes, they are well liked.

I guess a way to prevent being seen as an act from the past is to re-invent your sound when you return, so people don't compare you to the "old" you. Like Relapse and The E.N.D were completely different to any of the albums those aritsts had released before.

Yeah, that's what I was saying about Gaga. Although they are all electro-pop she has gone from cheesy club pop, to dark thuddering beats, to anthemic stadium rock/techno.

 

The End was fairly similar to The Begginning tbf, in that the biggest songs from each album were about having a good time. I don't think she has to change her sound more than she has between each album so far, just get away from the love yourself, self empowering stuff.

His solo career will depend on whether or not his album sells/charts well. If it ends up like Alex's new album then he'll be trying to get NDubz back together as soon as possible :lol:
