But that song has nothing to do with Cheryl. Calvin wrote & produced the track. She provided vocals. This song could have been sung by any other artist and sounded the same. It's a good song tho. Calvin knows the job.

If "Euphoria" was given to Cheryl (instead of Loreen) and got released in the UK - big promotion etc, it would have been one of the biggest sellers of 2012. Shame that R1 doesn't support good songs anymore. Cheryl is a profitable act - with a very little talent, but lots of money is thrown...

Get over it... She didn't write the melody and the lyrics, like many MANY popstars. I don't get your problem with it frankly

She's not a producer, she's a popstar.

There's nothing to get over. All I was trying to say was that she would never be a credible artist. She will always be remembered for her miming efforts.

Funny because she is talented; the fact that she's probably the best dancing musician from the UK proves otherwise. And I don't know what people in this country consider 'talent' when it comes to being a musician?! I'm sorry but if every artist was like Adele we'd live in one dull world.

Back to the chart; do you think sales for #25 will be similar to the last few weeks?

I don't think she cares about snobbish people who keep saying she's not a credible act.

People buy her records and give her number 1 singles and albums, surely that's the one thing she cares about and is happy for. She doesn't need to be branded "credible" by a few important people to survive as a popstar.

Girls Aloud have waited over half a decade before being branded "a cool act" by the critics and the indie crowd, so she knows exactly that the most important thing is the people out there who actually buy her records and like her music. ;)

This, I find it hilarious how all the Cheryl loons jump up and defend her when there's no need - she's immensely successful and admirable in her own right, you don't need to justify your music taste by claiming that it's credible.

I didn't believe you, but I googled to find out myself:

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/11892-...oud-overloaded/

Well I never.

Although I don't think you'd be too pleased at having Overload and the Sound of Girls Aloud being reviewed at the same time and being given a joint score.

No Cheryl doesn't write every song she sings, but she has written a few.

I don't see anyone criticising Rihanna? She doesn't write her own music.

I don't think it matters - if you can sell a single, it doesn't matter if you wrote it or not..

That wasn't quite my point though, I didn't say she was "credible", I said the "credible" label was irrevealant to popstars like her, and it's a bit unfair to critcise her on the whole "writing credits" thing.

MTV79 claimed she wasn't credible and never will be, and when he says that I think he misses the point (especially in this thread).

Actually I cherish Sugababes' back catalogue up to the "Taller" era, I even have a playlist on Itunes with their best material  Then I think they went downhill when Amelle joined (except for "About you now" that I've learnt to LOVE). Maybe I'm a closet SB fan :kink:

I think Cheryl is a great popstar-but at times, an awful live vocalist (she was fine at Children in need Rocks the Albert Hall, however).

She will become the third British female act to have three Number One Albums in a fortnight (after Kate Bush and Susan Boyle) and she's actually a really funny girl with a dry sense of humour. Plus, Under The Sun is a fanatastic second single from A Million Lights.

I've never heard Cheryl Cole sing well live. She has a terrible voice and thats why she mimes so much.

She was actually not too bad at the Albert Hall with Snow Patrol-their Set The Fire To the Third Bar was great!

Gary Lightbody sings so effortlessly... Cheryl is okay, but her voice is quite strained...

Cheryl can dance really well and she's also a very very pretty woman, but as far as I'm concerned she's got a weak voice and can't carry a tune in a bucket, but that's ok because there's pre-records and auto tune to enhance her vocals to obtain the dulcet tones we usually hear. It's only when something nasty happens to the "voice machine button" that Cheryl sings in the voice that god gave her, which sounds a lot like two cats fighting in a bag, bless.

I adore Cheryl and her music and couldn't give a damn if she's seen as credible, cool, or a great singer - I love her music and thats all that matters - Iv seen her with Girls Aloud 11 times and will go to as many of her solo live shows as possible - Regardless of what people think does not change my views on her but i do love it that will all the criticism she continually smashes it on sales which other POP stars would kill for!

Fight For This Love - 292,000 first week sales

Promise This - 157,000 first week sales

Call My Name - 100,000+ first week sales

And if this article is to be believed pre-orders of her 3rd album are high - http://www.musicrooms.net/pop/49358-cheryl...number-one.html

She has proved time and time again that she can sell records but even if she couldn't id still be as much of a fan as i am now! Regardless of opinion on album number 3 she is still shifting a vast amount of records which is quite a feat for a pure pop act!

According to digitalspy call my name has sold 97,000. So with a few days left she will come very close of sell more than gary barlows 142,000. Great seeing such huge sales 2 weeks in a row but i would prefer cheryl not to beat Gary.

Or perhaps the official midweek chart report, posted on page 1 of this very thread on Tuesday? ;)

That's all right then, as it is Flo Rida she is beating. :)
