July 11, 201213 yr I haven't really listen to Grimmie much to make an opinon of him, I would have thought Scott Mills would have fitted into the breakfast role pretty well since he covers for Chris Moyles when he goes away. Oh well... all we need now is a change for the Chart Show on Sunday, usually changes to Radio 1 presenters take place around September, hopefully Reggie Yates is one of them and the slot given to Greg James or Scott Mills. Its about time Reggie Yates got the boot from the chart show, it makes the whole show as a mockery, as he cannot get his chart facts right. Grimey is decent enough but i will miss him on his 10pm slot that i love listening to before bedtime - great new music!
July 11, 201213 yr I cannot stand Grimmie - Guess i will be finding a new channel for the breakfast show. Chris will be sadly missed - Was hoping Greg or Scott would have got it. Anyone bar grimshaw really!!!
July 11, 201213 yr I would've preffered Greg James I think but Nick is still tolerable. I don't listen to the morning shows too much so it doesn't make too much difference to my life, but I am glad Chris has finally f***ed off.
July 11, 201213 yr Thank goodness Moyles is going. Horrible character. Not really fussed on Grimmy though. Scott would have been perfect. I still hate that I work when Scott is on now so can't listen. He's one of the only genuinely funny DJs.
July 11, 201213 yr Not that great a loss, the only time I've ever mourned the loss of a R1 show was Mark & Lard's brilliant 1-3 slot back in 2004, and of course the late John Peel- though that was slightly more sudden.
July 11, 201213 yr I really like Nick Grimshaw but I'm not pleased that he's the replacement, that means his old show will be taken over by someone probably inferior :( I would have greatly preferred it to just be another predictable promotion for Greg. (I quite like Chris Moyles as well so disappointed to see him leaving 2 years early, I realise I'm alone on that here though).
July 11, 201213 yr Well, I expected to see a whole thread of people cheering :P I for one liked Chris, but from the brief glimpses I got, the show did seem to be losing steam and hopefully this refreshment will help, I haven't listened to Grimmy enough, but I would've preferred Scott though, I think he could've done a great job. July 11, 201213 yr I was hoping the replacement would be Greg James. Am I the only person who absolutely can't stand Nick Grimshaw? Annoying accent, annoying voice, annoying laugh. I'll definitely no longer be tuning in to Radio 1 in the mornings.
July 11, 201213 yr I absolutely loved The Chris Moyles show; Chris and all his team included. I was do sad when I ears this this morning kit before school, especially because this show is basically my childhood, I'm 15 and I've listened to the show since the start :( What a brilliant show! :( But on the upside, in the last year Grimmy has become my favourite R1 DJ and I tune into his 10pm show every night before bed. So glad that it is him replacing and not Greg. Eurgh! Nothing is wrong with Greg but he is just do bland it's unbelievable.
July 11, 201213 yr Grimshaw will not be recieved well at Breakfast and will be gone in 2 years. do you work as a undertaker, as you always sound pretty grim :(
July 11, 201213 yr Really sad about this news :( I heard Chris himself announce it on the radio and then went on to play 'Never Forget' by Take That. I will miss hearing Chris on the way to school, Nick is alright - I haven't heard enough of him to make a proper opinion so I'll give him a go!
July 11, 201213 yr Grimshaw will not be recieved well at Breakfast and will be gone in 2 years. He was the weekend breakfast host for a while before, if he was that poorly received then they wouldn't have given him this job now surely?
July 11, 201213 yr Grimmy has been doing a lot of cover of the day-time slots lately, and I've really warmed to him. Presumably, they were testing him out on the day-time audience and it has worked. I'm always thrilled when Chris is on holiday and Scott covers for him. I feel a bit bad for him that he's not getting the permanent gig, but it's not surprising given his age, and he's probably going to be secure in the afternoon for a good few years. I'd have been happy with Greg too, but mainly I'm glad Chris is off. He's not quite as obnoxious as he used to be, but one of the reasons I prefer BBC Radio to commercial radio is the lack of ads. But at least with ads, we know they will end. When he's prattling on about his boring life, you've no idea when he'll stop.
July 11, 201213 yr No doubt Moyles will have one final campaign to get some dreadful song in the chart to massage his ego again.

July 12, 201213 yr So Chris' influence on the singles chart has been to get random older tracks into the top 20 (Billie Honey To The Bee and John Barrowman I Made It Through The Rain) and one previously unsigned guy into the top 40 (Doug Walker The Mystery). Anything else? I expect Grimmy will have a bigger influence over at the least the lower reaches of the chart with lesser known acts?

July 12, 201213 yr I have to say I always wonder why people complain about the fact there is "not enough music" on a certain radio show. If you are that offended why not just whack on a CD full of your favourite songs?
