I would love Feel the Love to be no2 in 2 months lol!! But yeah you are exactly right - its reactionary record companies who want to protect the money making boyband groups who need massive exposure to debut high up the chart!!

Why did both The Wanted and One Direction do absolutely incredibly in the US with on air, on sale then? Have you seen their chart runs?

On air, on sale would benefit all artsits. It wouldn't hurt boy bands at all, their songs would sell more too.

I suspect its more to do with Album release dates, they don't want to release the single weeks (or months) before the album as they fear that the single will have come and gone and the album won't benefit from the promotion (which is basically why singles are released)

Maybe, but with Rihanna's Loud album for example, the US got Only Girl like 2-3 months earlier, and then they had What's My Name? a couple of weeks before the album. Whilst in the UK they tried to hold Only Girl back so it could be released just a few weeks before the album aswell, but we could've done like the US and had What's My Name? as the single just before the album instead and released Only Girl straight away.

I hope Paloma Faith can get added with "30 Minute Love Affair" next week. Did "Picking Up The Pieces" eventually get A-listed? I think nearly all (if not all) of her singles got A-listed from her previous album.

I thought they only playlisted New York 2010? Because I remember being quite surprised that they'd playlisted Paloma AT ALL after thinking Stone Cold Sober, New York, Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? & Upside Down had been snubbed?

Of course there are example to prove that wrong, not all boybands songs are crap but the majority are but still get to no - westlife being the prime example!
