The people who bought the little talks EP are idiots, there's only 1 song on there and its £1 cheaper to buy it seperately laugh.gif

Hmm,that's strange, when I checked last night there were 4 songs. There are 4 songs on the Amazon release, has anybody bought this? And can confirm there's just one song?

'Stronger' is her biggest selling single, in the UK, I believe! :o (or it's very close at least).

Also, in regards to Nicki not ever having a song bigger than 'Starships' "ever again" or whatever, I'd say "never say never". Surely people thought similar to Rihanna when she released 'Umbrella'? Then came along the likes of 'Rude Boy', 'Only Girl In the World', 'What's My Name?' and most notably 'We Found Love'.

I'd say if the sales climate back in 2005 was like now, Since U Been Gone would've sold more than Stronger (or at least a similar amount). Everything in 2005 sold very little, but the songs were just as "big" as now.

Rude Boy, Only Girl, What's My Name? and We Found Love weren't bigger than Umbrella (I absolutely love What's My Name?, but I'm just being honest here, it's nowhere near close to as big as Umbrella was, neither are those other songs). I'm 99% sure Rihanna will never get a hit bigger than Umbrella.

Surely that's got to be a mistake.

Yeah I guess. It's really close, so I guess they would have been bigger had sales been healthier.

'Rude Boy' and (perhaps) 'What's My Name?' I can see that I was pushing it a little, but 'Only Girl' and 'We Found Love' are definitely bigger than 'Umbrella' was, imo. Although your point about the sales climate could be a valid point here, I still believe that OG and WFL are the bigger, more signature type hits now. They seem to be massive favourites amongst both fans and non-fans of her. No one outside of internet forums/Riri fans, seem to talk about 'Umbrella' much anymore (to me anyway). It was her major breakout hit, definitely, but with 'Loud' and 'Talk That Talk' both selling very healthy amounts, as well as the aforementioned singles selling 1 million copies +, ('Loud' outselling GGGB) shows to me that those two songs have done wonders for her and have definitely kept people interested and have extended her fanbase. I know what I'm trying to say but as always, I'm terrible with wording stuff, so I hope you can decipher what I mean by this.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying.

For me, I think Umbrella is her biggest hit, because it was inescapable at the time, and everybody knows the song, but I didn't hear of Only Girl or We Found Love much (outside of the radio obviously ). It's like how when Disturbia was out people were saying that it was bigger than Umbrella, but after the hype died down everybody realized it wasn't. So I never think Rihanna will get a hit bigger than Umbrella (I don't literally think "never", just very, very, very unlikely).

Thanks vidcapper, but actually it was sarcasm :heehee:

I was aware of that.

Wow. Don't know what to say about this. It's like LMFAO, Far East Movement and D4L COMBINED, but 100 times crazier.

Sounds like a cast iron reason for me never to listen to it, then! :P

Furthermore, we have a chart battle of flopping divas..Mariah Carey vs Madonna..Which of them will have the worst sales..? It's difficult to predict but "Turn Up The Radio" is a little better than "Triumphant".

At least I *knew* Madonna had a new single out - I had not the slightest idea that Mariah did.

All of the 'official' Olympics songs have underperformed so far, Will Dizzee be the first to change that?

Unlikely, given that rap artists have great difficulty in selling to other than their existing fans, even if a good cause is involved.

Does anyone know why 'River' by Emeli Sande is currently #61 on the iTunes chart?
Little Talks is great, another good song that bombed in BJSC and suddenly everyone likes (although I'm sure you'll have given it points... unlike some, I'm looking at YOU Batidas! :D )

I actually considered sending it instead of Ingrid last time until I realised that

a. It's actually massive

b. it had been already entered!

What a shame.

I heard it last night and again this morning during Olympics coverage.

32. Lawson - Taking Over Me

44. Emeli Sandé - River

67. Dizzee Rascal Feat. Pepper - Scream

91. Redlight - Lost in Your Love

25. Lawson - Taking Over Me

63. Dizzee Rascal Feat. Pepper - Scream

89. Redlight - Lost in Your Love

Not an official song, or even about The Olympics but 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet is currently no.132 & 530.

Shame they haven't released the Vintage Throwback mix of Triumphant, I do really like the original as well but to be honest i hardly has hit written all over it sadly. Good to see Lawson starting well, I'm growing to really really like Taking Over Me!
Looks like Madonna will lose the battle of the flop divas. What's her chart placing?

Not even top 1000 yet

Ftr "Survival" is getting played before every Olympic football game with its video on the big screen, I've heard that the same is happening at a lot of other events as well.

Seriously just give up.

I agree that Starships will be Nicki's biggest hit. Not that I think Nicki's career is about to end, but Starships was massive in the charts, and Nicki will never be able to get a song more successful than it ever again, it's almost impossible (kind of like how Adele will never get a hit bigger than Someone Like You, for example).

Pretty sure you said the exact same thing for Superbass before Starships blew up

Can't access iTunes, anyone know where Basshunter is?

Wow! I'm glad 'River' by Emeli Sande is doing so well! After I heard it during the round-up show last night as part of the Jessica Ennis montage it felt so powerful and I really hope it can keep climbing and secure a top 40 spot officially!
