October 29, 201212 yr And they've replaced Jools Holland with Lauren Laverne. For some, that's an improvement. For others, it's a terrible shame.
November 1, 201212 yr THE TIME HAS COME After finally hearing at least most of the 12 albums, i'd say my three faves were easily Django Django, Alt-J and Plan B; but if i was forced to just pick one, i'd probably go with Django x2. I was quite impressed by Field Music's as well Here's the current odds: Alt-J - 7/4 Field Music - 5/2 Richard Hawley - 6/1 Django Django - 7/1 Jessie Ware - 8/1 Ben Howard - 10/1 The Maccabees - 12/1 Plan B - 14/1 Lianne La Havas - 14/1 Michael Kiwanuka - 33/1 Sam Lee - 33/1 Roller Trio - 50/1 I'd still say Alt-J are gonna win, but Jessie Ware or Plan B might have a chance Edited November 1, 201212 yr by SevenSeize
November 1, 201212 yr Still hoping for Alt-J or Ben Howard... although I wouldn't really be that disappointed with any of them I guess.
November 1, 201212 yr ^Well "We Bros" certainly should have won the Mercury SINGLE of the year award (if such an award existed).
November 1, 201212 yr Alt-J were the only obvious NOMINEES for this, let alone the obvious winners. Woo though. Not an undeserved win.
November 1, 201212 yr Disappointing for DD, but a well deserved win for the guys. You just wanted an excuse to use the word epizeuxis :P Still, it should make an appearance in Sunday's commentary thanks to Madness :D
November 1, 201212 yr Yay, Alt-J. Pretty much as expected, but a fab album nonetheless (even if i did slightly prefer Django Django's effort)! Edited November 1, 201212 yr by SevenSeize
November 1, 201212 yr Great winner. And glad Django Django didn't win. 'Default' is arguably the most annoying song ever made. It's like a really bad version of a really bad Franz Ferdinand song.. Don't know if the album is better though. Never got to the point where I felt bothered listening to it. :) Edited November 1, 201212 yr by Thomsen
November 2, 201212 yr Yawn at Alt-J - a mediocre album at best... Mercury Prize 2012 nomination list has to be the worst yet..
November 2, 201212 yr Well, that went by without much of a bang this year. Still don't understand the excitement around Alt-J though.
November 2, 201212 yr Author Three years of predictable winners. Am I the only person who wants a surprise winner?
November 2, 201212 yr I didn't even know that Alt-J were British (let alone from my hometown), so a fantastic win for them!
