August 13, 201213 yr Author Ora ready to Party back to No 1 Source: MW by Paul Willams Rita Ora is heading for her second solo UK No 1 single with the newly-issued How We Do (Party) outselling its two nearest rivals combined. The Columbia/Roc Nation single had sold nearly 60,000 copies up to the end of business on Tuesday, according to the Official Charts Company, as it looks to follow her first solo hit R.I.P. featuring Tinie Tempah to the top of the chart. Ora also reached No 1 as the featured vocalist on Ministry of Sound act DJ Fresh's Hot Right Now. Having debuted at the top last Sunday, One More Tune/Warner Bros act Wiley drops to two with Heatwave featuring Ms D with the three tracks immediately below it all having been featured in the Olympics closing ceremony. They are Virgin act Emeli Sande whose Read All About It Pt 3 is new at three, Fiction/Polydor act Elbow rising 125-4 with One Day Like This and Kate Bush's Fish People/EMI-issued Running Up That Hill re-entering at five as it aims to return her to the Top 10 for the first time since 2005's King Of The Mountain. Completing the midweek singles Top 10 are the Columbia single We'll Be Coming Back by Calvin Harris featuring Example dropping 2-6, Island act Florence + The Machine's Spectrum dropping 4-7, George Michael's Island single White Light enetring at eight after he performed it at last Sunday's closing ceremony, Ministry of Sound signing Porter Robinson new at nine with Language and Atlantic act Trey Songz entering at 10 with Simply Amazing. Alongside a number of tracks climbing or entering the listings because of the closing ceremony, as outlined in another story on the site, RCA act Aiden Grimshaw registers as a new entry in 37th position with Curtain Call. Emeli Sande's Virgin album Our Version Of Events looks like securing a fourth run at No 1 this Sunday with sales up 232% following her closing ceremony performance. The album was in fourth place on last Sunday's chart. Sales of RCA act Paloma Faith's album Fall To Grace are up 156% to lift it 5-2 on the midweeks, while Polydor's Fiction label should have two albums in the Top 10 at the weekend with Spector's Enjoy It While It Lasts currently appearing as a new entry at three and Elbow's The Seldom Seen Kid vaulting 139-5 following the band's closing ceremony performance. The same event is also behind Asylum/Atlantic act Ed Sheeran's + climbing 8-4, Island/Lava's Jessie J album Who You Are lifting 15-9 and Virgin's Spice Girls retrospective Greatest Hits climbing 164-9. RCA act Ryan O'Shaughnessy's self-titled album registers as a new entry at six in the latest midweeks as A&M/Octone/Polydor act Maroon 5's Overexposed drops 3-7 and Def Jam/Mercury signing Rihanna falls to 10 having returned to the top last weekend with Talk That Talk. Outside the Top 10 Search And Destroy Records has two new entries following a new partnership with Sony with While She Sleeps' This Is The Six in 13th place and Don Broco's Priorities 14th. Meanwhile, the Sounds Like Good label's self-titled The Midnight Beast album accelerates 88-16. Other brand new entries to this Sunday's chart will include releases from Hopeless's Yellowcard, PIAS Recordings' Dead Can Dance and Hegri Music's Karine Polwart. =================================================== Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Rita Ora* (60k) 2 Wiley/Ms. D 3 Emeli Sande 4 Elbow 5 Kate Bush 6-10 8 George Michael* 9 Porter Robinson* 10 Trey Songz* 11-20 12 John Lennon 18 Muse 21-30 25 One Direction 27 Taio Cruz 28 Oasis 31-40 32 Big Hits 2012* 34 Cheryl [uTS] 37 Aidan Grimshaw* 38 Ed Sheeran* 39 The Kinks 40 Who http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/singles/print =================================================== Top 40 Albums 1 Emeli Sande 2 Paloma Faith 3 Spector 4 Ed Sheeran 5 Elbow 6-10 6 Ryan O'Shaugnssey* 8 Jessie J 9 Spice Girls 11-20 11 One Direction 13 While She Sleeps* 14 Don Broco* 18 Kate Bush 19 Madness 21-30 25 The Kinks 29 Elbow [bARB] 31-40 38 Yellowcard* http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/albums/print http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/e...les-boost-1534/ * New Entries
August 13, 201213 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Olympics take Sande's album sales to five-month high Source: MW By Paul Williams Emeli Sande’s Olympics closing ceremony performance has already lifted her album to its highest weekly UK sales in nearly five months with two days of trading still to go. The Virgin-issued Our Version of Events had sold 21,733 copies this week up to the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company, lifting it 4-1 on the midweek artist albums listings. That is its highest tally since it sold 24,184 copies in the chart published on March 25 and it will easily beat that total given Friday and Saturday sales this week still need to be added in. Sande’s album is one of a number benefiting at retail from last Sunday’s Olympics farewell with the winners also including Decca/UMC’s two official albums Isles of Wonder – The Opening Ceremony and A Symphony Of British Music. Up to the end of Thursday they were respectively the third and fourth biggest album sellers overall with the list headed by another compilation, EMI TV/UMTV’s Now! 82, and Our Version Of Events in second place. In the artist albums rankings RCA act Paloma Faith moves 5-2 with sales of Fall To Grace up 158% in the week to date, ahead of closing ceremony stars Ed Sheeran and Elbow. Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic-issued + climbs 8-3 and Elbow’s 2008 Fiction/Polydor effort The Seldom Seen Kid rises 139-4 thanks to its cut One Day Like This’s inclusion in last weekend’s Olympics swansong. There are new entries cropping up at this stage of the week in fifth and sixth positions from Fiction/Polydor's Spector and RCA's Ryan O'Shaughnessy, while Vertigo/Mercury's Amy Macdonald and Island/Lava's Jessie J are set to move back into the Top 10 this Sunday, the latter thanks to her closing ceremony appearances. Columbia/Roc Nation signing Rita Ora's newly-issued How We Do (Party) has already surpassed 80,000 sales this week on its way to debuting at the top of the singles chart on Sunday, while One More Tunes/Warner Bros track Heatwave by Wiley featuring Ms D is currently ranked second, having debuted at No 1 last Sunday. The latest midweeks top five is completed by three tracks that featured in the closing ceremony: Emeli Sande's Virgin single Read All About It Pt 3 new at three, Fish People/EMI track Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush re-entering at four some 27 years after it was first a hit and Elbow's 2008 Fiction/Polydor hit One Day Like This rising 125-5. August 14, 201213 yr Should be a big shake up and with it a decent increase in sales in both charts!!
August 14, 201213 yr Spice Girls Greatest Hits deserves to return to the top five this week. Mmmh, how does it "deserve" it ?
August 14, 201213 yr Don Broco and While She Sleeps are both top 10 in the album chart midweeks, according to a few tweets.
August 14, 201213 yr Kate Bush top 5 hopefully  Emeli should definitely be number 1 in the albums and top 10 in the singles :D
August 14, 201213 yr Mmmh, how does it "deserve" it ? I keep asking for a ban on the word deserve and all it's relatives. No single, album or band "deserves" anything.
August 14, 201213 yr I keep asking for a ban on the word deserve and all it's relatives. No single, album or band "deserves" anything. I can only agree 100%. You can cheer for something or hate it, but the word deserve is too subjective anyway.
August 14, 201213 yr I keep asking for a ban on the word deserve and all it's relatives. No single, album or band "deserves" anything. Calm down - He's only speaking his mind. Honestly some people are so petty and serious on here and wanting words banned etc is just stupid. It puts alot of people off posting. In chart i think Rita 1 obviously with sales of 115,000 by the end of the week. Emili number one in albums i hope with decent ish sales after last weeks shocking sales.
August 14, 201213 yr Calm down - He's only speaking his mind. Honestly some people are so petty and serious on here and wanting words banned etc is just stupid. It puts alot of people off posting. you calm down. I was only joking.
August 14, 201213 yr Don Broco and While She Sleeps are both top 10 in the album chart midweeks, according to a few tweets. I've vaguely heard of While She Sleeps but not a clue about that other thing. Low sales always providing an opportunity for obscure acts to get album chart 'success' Anyway, Emeli will almost certainly be back at #1 on the albums this week, I wonder if there's a chance 'The Seldom Seen Kid' could finally beat its #5 peak as well... Hoping to see 'Wonderwall' make a reappearance in the top 40, comfortably on for it at the moment but it could easily fade away over the week. Emeli, Kate and Elbow should all easily stay top 10 ('Read All About It (Pt. III)' could easily become Emeli's third #2 without a #1 as a lead artist, if only 'Earthquake' rightfully beat the original 'Read All About It'...), not so sure about John Lennon though. And I really hope that Inthelittlewood thing steers clear now I've found out what it is :drama: Edited August 14, 201213 yr by Bré
