Following in the footsteps their idols The Beatles, Oasis became a phenomenon in their home country in the 1990s. Taking the Fabs' template as a model, they added a thick wall of Pete Townshend-influenced guitars and stood at the vanguard of the mid-'90s Britpop movement, inspiring scores of imitators. While guitarist/songwriter/leader Noel Gallagher penned several instant-classic pop songs, the press zoomed in on the extra-musical hijinks and squabbles of he and his younger brother and Oasis lead singer, Liam. The constantly feuding brothers have threatened to split countless times (usually after one of Liam's public outbursts), but somehow they've hung together and kept things going against the odds. The band's latter albums--written in the midst of numerous line-up changes--while not critically lauded have consistently sold in their millions. - HMV

In my opinion, Oasis was one of the best band of the 90s. too bad the Gallagher Brothers couldn't stand stay together as a group

I love Muse usually, but this is still so rubbish :( Disappointed.

Not even in the top 20, the flop of the year ?

Also will.i.am/BEP lyrics are so terrible, it's ridiculous.

'Yeah, baby, yeah, alright, can you feel it? Good god, yeah, alright'. Give this man an Ivor Novello.

It's certainly an improvemont on "imma be, imma be, imma imma imma be x200".

It's funny though, since it's the opposite with some of their earlier songs, so they're clearly capable when they want to be.

I love Muse usually, but this is still so rubbish :( Disappointed.

I'm glad am not the only one, I love Starlight though

Album Discussion Here

Reggie really cannot count can he, there are more than 8 new/re entries this week

Don't Wake Me Up has had a disgusting amount of longevity. I was hoping it would go 3-8-15-274 or something.

Hello everyone! Sorry I wasn't here to do the recaps, went out to my gran's house and didn't get back until 5pm.

Thoughts on the chart so far;

Brilliant to see 'Wonderwall' back at #38. Glad to see both 'Caliban's Dream' and 'Little Talks' staying top 40, was expecting both to drop out this week. #34 is decent for 'Wish You Were Here', outpeaking 'Hush Little Baby' at least. Boo at One Direction re-entering. 'No Name' is extremely dull on first listen which further adds to my confusion of why enough people still care about him after all this time. YAY at 'Survival' re-peaking, shame it couldn't quite go top 20 but #22 is better than #25 and at least it hasn't repeated 'Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)' and only had one week top 40.

Right, all caught up now. Woo.

I do believe that Gotye has left the top 40 :o

Shows that Survival is genuinely pretty unpopular when it cant stay stabile in the itunes top 40 for a while(already down to no38-out of the top 40 next week)with all the airplay radio 1 have given it and it jumped into the top 40 with the olympics affect.

HI BRE

I think it's 8 new entries and 6 re-entries (or the other way around).

Gosh. What are you studying that leads to an assignment involving Justin Bieber?

Media Studies, I was using him as an example of a modern day star that children would love, and I was saying how the aid of new media such as the likes of Youtube or twitter has helped build him a young fanbase that can be taken advantage of, so in this sense, they could be seen as a minority group as those that are slightly older wouldn't be in a sense 'fooled' into buying his merchandise in the same way.

If that seems complicated, it was for me as well :P

Pleasing to see Muse back in the top 30, but I'm still not fully clicking with Survival. Hopefully, the second album's singles can take priority now.

I do believe that Gotye has left the top 40 :o

Indeen after its been there since january, its at 45 on itunes now so maybe it could creep back in next week!!
