Well to me this:

I said releasing an album after a single isn't good LONG TERM for a band [/see Cover Drive]. Look at the performance of the album after "Sparks" and even the follow-up single.

...looks like you're saying bands should release albums without releasing singles. Which would obviously be a completely idiotic point. It's really hard to try and dig through your posts to find what your actual point is, I still don't understand what you're trying to say.

No.. I'm saying the whole releasing an album after a second single DOESN'T ALWAYS work in favour of new bands, and used Cover Drive as an example. Releasing the album on the back of ONE HIT RECORD may badly screw up the campaign, as it did for CD, I mean they've been dropped.

I still don't understand what you mean. The release strategies have never been any different to other new bands! Also, Cover Drive released off the back of the THIRD single, whether you want to forget about LYD or not, 'Sparks' was still the 3rd official single. 'Twilight' would have been the best time to release the album, the song still went to number 1 and they had more hype surrounding them than they did for when 'Sparks' was released...
I think this album will get totally swallowed up/ignored in the Christmas rush but will recover nicely in the new year with the release of a 4th single.

It's been delayed until March.

It's been delayed until March.

Good move for them - The release schedule for next week was far too strong for them to compete, They would have had no visability in HMV and the Supermarkets as there are too many big sellers and new releases taking up all the space.

I just hope that the album see's the light of day - This move to delay the album would have cost the record company loads and they will need a further big selling single early next year to launch the album from.

Oh dear, I do hope it doesn't affect sales or this will end up making Heartbreak On Hold look like 21!
The album has leaked all over the net and the CD album is being sold on eBay - Total disaster! They need a SERIOUSLY huge hit early next year if this album has any chance at all.

Yup, all over the net, that's why I cannot find it anywhere.

they might as well just release this album and release a new album next year...

Indeed - They had already pressed 1,000s of physical copies which they are now going to have to destroy as they are changing the tracklisting, This project has cost the record company so much that I think they will be reluctant to push the album in March next year if the band fail to get another big hit and by which time 'Black Heart' will be a distant memory.

This is the worst thing that could have happened for them. Their careers were going so well, hitting top 5 with their first ever single and then following it up with a massive summer smash, spending over 2 months in the top 10 and yet it has fallen apart so quickly. Whoever thought releasing a cover of 'Waterfalls' as the 3rd single and the single launching the album needs to be locked away, they have completely f***ed things up for these girls. I pray they can have some success in the new year.
I know it hardly equates to a smash album but i have had 4 customers ask for the album this week at work so clearly people were looking forward to the release and knew it was coming out - This is one big mess that I doubt they will recover from :-(
