Yeah. If Gangnam Style makes the top 40 I could see 2NE1 getting a chart hit next year. They're the biggest Korean girlband at the moment and from what I've heard (Scream, I Am the Best) they are good.

I just played this for the first time to see what all the fuss was about, I can't see it catchy on here fast, I didn't know if I wanted to mute the whole thing or let it play out, in the end I let it play out, I just can't take it serious. I can just picture Tom Kay doing the moves to this :heehee:

2NE1 should have a song with will.i.am out in the next few months so that might make the iTunes top 100 here, but it'll just be an album track.

I've heard rumours he will be on their first English single (well they've already had an English single Can't Nobody released in Korea but you know what I mean) as well, that should really help them out. I really need them to be huge though, followed them for so long and they're right on the brink of being so big, I know it!

Is 2NE1 English up to scratch though?

 

 

Their cover of Like A Virgin (Madonna) on their Japanese album recently.

That Like A Virgin cover is the low point of their entire career tbh.

2NE1 also has another song out called I Love You, which sounds like a pure girl-band classic.

I Love You is absolutely fantastic, head and shoulders above virtually everything else released this year with one or two exceptions :wub:

 

They're doing an English version, so that could be their first single I guess. It sounds like a hit, very European sounding but still with a magic K-Pop twist.

Interscope never push their girl groups. The Pussycat Dolls and Girls Generation are signed there, and also done nothing.

Just gave 'Gangnam Style' a listen - actually pretty decent. Sounds very much like a Taio Cruz song in places, found myself being able to sing along lyrics from 'Troublemaker' to the same production. The M/V video is pretty funny too, so will be interesting to see how far this 'craze' can go - not as big as Rebecca Black's 'Friday', I imagine though.

'Gangnam Style' is just a superior 'Party Rock Anthem' for me. It's quite funny!

Glad I'm not the only one! The instrumental in the pre-chorus is especially VERY Party Rock Anthem, except it's actually a good song. I'm loving it atm, can't get enough.
