September 15, 201212 yr Both 'Good Feeling' - Flo Rida and 'Levels' - Avicii don't list Etta James Speaking of Flo Rida, his new single doesn't list Brenda Russell as a vocalist. He's terrible at crediting people I guess
September 15, 201212 yr 'Levels' - Avicii don't list Etta James And the fuss Avicii made when he wasn't at first credited on Leona Lewis' Collide! :
September 15, 201212 yr And the fuss Avicii made when he wasn't at first credited on Leona Lewis' Collide! : 'Levels' used a sample of Etta James. Sampled vocals tend to not get an artist credit (although there are exceptions to that obviously) - Etta James and the other two writers of 'Something's Got A Hold On Me' did get a songwriting credit on 'Levels' and indeed 'Good Feeling' as well. The Leona issue is slightly different, 'Collide' completely stole Avicii's work without any crediting at all or even permission from either Avicii or his label. I'm sure it was the Leona side of the dispute that suggested Avicii get an artist credit, I doubt he'd have kicked up a fuss at just getting a songwriting/production credit (oddly he doesn't have a production credit on 'Collide', although he does have a songwriting credit). September 15, 201212 yr Pretty sure she was. She's listed as a featured artist in the original tracklisting of 'The Marshall Mathers LP' at least. Maybe she wasn't credited on the actual single release I suppose. Having looked at Polyhex, MW (at the time of its run), the Guiness Book of Hit Singles, 1000 No 1 hits, and the Virgin book of Hit singles, along with the orginal single sleeve and spine and actual CD I can confirm that Dido is not credited officially :D other than on the blurb on the inlay of the CD obviously.
September 15, 201212 yr Dido certainly wasn't credited at the time. It was always mentioned as Eminem. I remember some DJs would mention her and when Here With Me was released she was 'Dido, you know, the woman who sang the chorus on that Eminem song'.
September 15, 201212 yr Mott The Hoople - All The Young Dudes did not give David Bowie a credit despite the fact that he wrote, produced, sang backing vocals, and played saxophone on the track. Mariah Carey - I'll Be There is a duet with Trey Lorenz, but he is not credited. Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok features an uncredited Anders Glenmark singing the chorus. Siedah Garrett was not given a label credit on Michael Jackson's I Just Can't Stop Loving You (thus leading Guinness not to credit her) although she is credited on the sleeve. The vocalist on Tomcraft - Loneliness receives no credit at all (according to Wikipedia the song is based around an Andrea Martin song, but it does not specify whether or not her voice is sampled). The Bayside Boys remix of Los Del Rio's Macarena featured a totally unidentified female voice. Jay-Z was not credited on Crazy In Love.
September 15, 201212 yr Jay-Z was not credited on Crazy In Love. At the time of release? Because the music channels now credit him.
September 15, 201212 yr At the time of release? Because the music channels now credit him. Yes, it's erroneously credited to "Ft Jay Z" these days but it wasn't at the time and nor is it credited in GBHS :o
September 15, 201212 yr Again, Jay-Z was credited on the original album tracklisting of 'Dangerously In Love'.
September 15, 201212 yr Tim Berg feat. Amanda Wilson - Seek Bromance (although those vocals were taken from another song)
September 15, 201212 yr Scissor Sisters - 'Shady Love' (from 'Magic Hour') doesn't credit Azealia Banks on the chorus. Much like Justin Timberlake's 'Where is the Love?' situation, I feel it was a move to avoid overexposure. Rizzle Kicks' 'Mama Do the Hump' doesn't get a credit, from what I assume is a female vocalist. It certainly doesn't sound like either Harvey or Jordan. Production wise, 'We Found Love'/'Club Can't Handle Me' are over-credited. Why should the producer be credited in some places and not the other. Especially in the case of Calvin Harris, he was credited on 'We Found Love' but not other hits at the same time: 'Only the Horses', 'Call My Name' and even a track on the same album, 'Where Have You Been'.
September 15, 201212 yr Also was Sophie Ellis Bextor credited on Groovejet? She isn't on the Now 46 tracklist.
September 15, 201212 yr How has nobody mentioned Robyn of Piece on Me by Britney Spears :D Even I know that one!
September 15, 201212 yr It mentions her (Sophie E-B) on the CD cover, but not as a proper feature, more just a side note. Edited September 16, 201212 yr by JosephRaeJepsen
September 15, 201212 yr I think the mystery female vocalist in 'Club Can't Handle Me' is Nicole Scherzinger. Edited September 15, 201212 yr by kenukcsfant2012
September 16, 201212 yr Nobody has mentioned probably one of the most famous one: Princess Stephanie of Monaco who sang on 'In the Closet' by Michael Jackson. Guests on Jackson's songs were rarely credited though: Heavy D on 'Jam', Slash on 'Give in to Me', Shaquille O'Neal on '2 Bad', LTB on 'Black or White'... And Jackson himself wasn't credited on Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me.
