The more I hear it the more I also hear shades of Stephen Gately's New Beginning

Haha! I'm going to think that everytime I hear it now, thanks :P

It's really wintery this song, can't get enough of it

It probably won't do anything in the singles chart, might get Radio 2 support which is probably more radio support than their last few singles in 2001 got...

Would love to see the album go top 5/10 though and hang around!

The single 'Light Up The World' has finally been added to iTunes :w00t: :w00t: Gutted that this is going to flop hard though - No promo or airplay and no major label backing - Its not even mentioned on their website that they have a single out!!
For the single to stand any chance it needed loads of marketing and promo but the total opposite has happened, not mentioning it on their website is just extremely poor marketing and its so disaapointing. I didnt expect the single to do well but i hope they get their act together for the album and promote promote promote.

They have not even sent out an email to their mailing list to promote the release - Its almost as if they don't want it to be a hit! Also im a bit concerned that Sony decided against signing them after the success of the tour and GH and they are now self funding and releasing on their own label - Can see this whole project really not working sadly

I wonder why they're not doing arenas?

Indeed - I saw them twice at the O2 on the recent tour and again at Rochester and they was packed so im really not sure why they are doing tiny venues this time when they know they can still sell tickets and fill bigger venues, None of the dates for the upcoming tour have sold out though so its either really poor marketing or the general public have no interest if new materia/concertsl from Steps

Here's hoping for a top 75 SMASH! Deserves so much more but it does seem like public interest has tailed off dramatically since the arena tour finished, lets wait and see how the album does I guess...pop reuinons are a wild beast though, Boyzone can get minor singles and hit albums still, All Saints got a top 3 single and nothing else, Steps sold out a tour and got a #1 album and that's probably about it, Spice Girls' comeback missed the top ten, only Take That got everything completely right!

I guess so although part of me would rather this missed the Top 100 rather than ruining their run of Top 15 hits - I had high hopes for the album but think it's going to bomb now :(

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that rarities album of theirs in 2002 and it's accompanying single bomb? So they're hardly breaking with tradition/record...

EDIT: Oooh hello, just seen they're #55 on iTunes already. Top 40 seems a possibility in any case!

The 'Last Dance' album flopped and peaked at #57 however the single 'Baby Don't Dance' got pulled and only made it to a promo CD

And am really shocked and pleased that they are #53 on iTunes - One or two TV performances could see them Top 20 with ease!!

I really like this - was so sure it wouldn't be up to scratch. Really pleased it is doing OK on iTunes as well.
I didnt expect it to do this well either especially as there was no video, no promo etc, its doing fantastically well all facts considering. This really shows there is a still a big market here for them, if they manage to get a major record company backing them again they could do as well all over again.

I wouldn't say there is a 'big' market for them, really. I'm a big(ish) fan and my interest has definitely dwindled.

It's quite obvious from the fact that they're playing much, much smaller venues and still haven't sold out yet, that other fans are losing interest too.

As someone who grew up adoring them and seeing them promote like they did, I'm kinda saddened to see their half-assed Twitter promotion.

They seem to just be doing this because there is a market for them and they're perhaps driven by the financial side of it?

If I'm going to get fully on board, I need to see some dedication from them.. A bloomin' music video for a start!

Plus, I know they're releasing this on their own sub-label under Warner but they need a team that's in the know.

I mean.. where's the remixes? or an EP? Plus, a Monday release? It's not 2000 anymore..

Totally agree - They are just tarnishing their past success with this half arsed effort - The fact that the single has managed to go Top 40 with no promotion, 3 radio plays, no video, no remixes and the fact its not even mentioned on their official website and no e-mail has been sent out to people who signed up to their mailing list just proves that this could have been a hit for them had they bothered to do ANYTHING!

I can see the album falling on its arse if they don't get some decent promotion now and with the single likely to enter low Top 75 if they are lucky then i doubt TV shows will be falling over themselves to get them booked!

Im totally gutted tbh - Always been a huge Steps fan and saw them 5 times on their Ultimate tour but they are just turning themselves into a joke at the moment

Has anyone else tried and failed to download the song from Amazon? I swear this whole campaign is cursed!

What makes matters worse is Amazon charged me TWICE for the non-working download!
