September 8, 201311 yr The outhere brothers? How do people check these days without Chart Stats? http://chartarchive.org/a/the+outhere+brothers http://chartarchive.org/r/23413 It's only some parts of the site that had to be taken down.
September 8, 201311 yr Vanessa Carlton could be looked at from two different angles - two solo top 75 entries, or two top 20 entries
September 8, 201311 yr Starship returning to the chart reminds me that they only had 2 big hits, Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now and We Built This City (I'm surprised the latter only made #12, it feels like it was much bigger than that)
September 8, 201311 yr Starship returning to the chart reminds me that they only had 2 big hits, Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now and We Built This City (I'm surprised the latter only made #12, it feels like it was much bigger than that) They also had a chart hit 'Jane' under their previous name Jefferson Starship...it reached #21 which brings us back to the 'definition of a hit' debate but I think it would count as three hits
September 8, 201311 yr Vanessa Carlton could be looked at from two different angles - two solo top 75 entries, or two top 20 entries She deserved better (even though "Big Yellow Taxi" was dreadful, and I say that as a huge Counting Crows fan). I picked up her 3rd album for 50p at a Car Boot a couple of weeks ago, and it has about half a dozen really good tracks on it.
September 9, 201311 yr Leon Jackson: When You Believe #1 Don't Call This Love #3 Michelle McManus: All This Time #1 The Meaning Of Love #16 Sam & Mark: With A Little Help From My Friends #1 The Sun Has Come Your Way #19
September 11, 201311 yr Has anyone mentioned Jason Mraz? Similar hit profile to Christina : I'm Yours 725k, I Won't Give Up 433k... The fun with them was the fact that they had a collaboration and it was a failure without impact. It's called "Distance". Based on their sales, it could be a massive hit and another #11 for Jason Mraz.. :D
September 12, 201311 yr StooShe: Love Me - #5 Black Heart - #3 And no, I think it would be silly to count 'Slip' as a hit just because it went to #12, it spent 2 weeks in the top 40 and sold basically nothing. Edited September 12, 201311 yr by Davidson
September 12, 201311 yr Bow Wow Wow: Go Wild In The Country #7 I Want Candy #9 Surely their other Hits count? "C30 C60...", "Louis Quatorze", "See Jungle"...
September 12, 201311 yr She deserved better (even though "Big Yellow Taxi" was dreadful, and I say that as a huge Counting Crows fan). I picked up her 3rd album for 50p at a Car Boot a couple of weeks ago, and it has about half a dozen really good tracks on it. What?? Half-dozen? The entire album is amazing!
September 12, 201311 yr I don't like the ones where you get Vanessa overdubbed with Vanessa overdubbed with Vanessa. Kinda like how half the tracks on the last couple of Kirsty MacColl albums were spoilt too.
September 13, 201311 yr Next of Kin - who were from my neck of the woods and have now auditioned for X Factor this year - had one #13 with '24 Hours from You' and #33 with their follow up 'More Love' both in 1999 then they were never heard of again. Well after this weekend they will be...
September 13, 201311 yr Christina Perri is the definition of two hit wonder!!! "Jar of Hearts" has sold more than 900.000 copies and "A Thousand Years" has sold more than 450.000 copies to date. What a bummer that nowadays you don't even need to go top 3 to sell 900k and to go top 10 to sell 400k, whereas so many of the biggest hits of most of last decade struggled to sell 500k. If sales were this high in 2007/08, "Umbrella" probably would have hit the million mark around its 5th week at #1 and "Viva La Vida" (famous for selling less when it hit #1 than many of the songs that were #100 in 2011-12) would have the sales to match its 00's classic status.
September 13, 201311 yr Simon Webbe had 2 #4 hits (Lay your hands on me & No Worries ) with his solo material. His whole solo career on the whole was fab apart from My soul pleads for you. Edited September 13, 201311 yr by Rob Summers
September 13, 201311 yr Simon Webbe had 2 #4 hits (Lay your hands on me & No Worries ) with his solo material. His whole solo career on the whole was fab apart from My soul pleads for you. I quite agree. It was a heap of doo doo that one!
September 13, 201311 yr I don't like the ones where you get Vanessa overdubbed with Vanessa overdubbed with Vanessa. Kinda like how half the tracks on the last couple of Kirsty MacColl albums were spoilt too. What tracks do you mean? I love each and every single one. We're talking H/T not ROTR right?
