Can't quite believe an abysmal X Factor performance and his crappest single ever see's Robbie score his first number 1 in ages. Really highlights what the singles chart is all about.

Have you forgotten Rudebox? I wouldn't blame you if you have

I think he can just about crack over 100k by the end of the week as for sales of his new album that is yet to be seen. Its been the year of the comebacks, Maroon 5, I never thought they get a #1 single in a million years.

Even though they had one of the best selling singles last year?

I know what you mean though

But talking about comebacks, how about Sean Paul!?

Tripping and She's Madonna are my favourite Robbie singles! Along with A Man for All Seasons.

man for all seasons is his best song!!!!!! such an underrated gem! :w00t:

U2 have done the 80s, 90s and 00s and will add the 10s when they release something.

All Pet Shop Boys studio albums 1986-2012 have been top ten.

Never heard man for all seasons before so listened to the iTunes preview.

It sounds VERY much like another song esp. the "another trace of a MAN for all seasons, loves them & leaves them alone" bit.

Initially I thought it was like Geraldine McQueen's Christmas song which is funny as that was a Gary Barlow co-write.

It's from Johnny English, maybe that's what you remember?

No I've never heard it before, never seen the film.

I'd say I was quite a big Robbie fan but I didn't even know the song existed.

It's Britpop-py, it's bugging the life out of me what the chorus is like, gonna sit with my iPod on random all of tomorrow until i find out!

I also like A Man For All Seasons but Berliner Star is even better =) Rocky style is more fit to Rob than sweet poppy like Candy. But Candy has a great catchy sound and it's really need him now to come back. I'm sure another songs on album will be more creative.

But I think we need to discuss it in another topic ;)

I hope Kylie can stay top 2, id be hapypy even if she stays top 3, i hope she has good sales aswell and while unlikely i hope Matt Cardle stays top 10.

Some big drops in the album chart, Dappy been the main one, big drop for leona this week aswell, maybe she might sneak back into the top 20.

Ok. Not as high as I wanted Madness. I wanted them to beat their last effort in 2009 of Liberty Of Norton Folgate that peaked at 5. But this is an exceptional week for New Entries and by the looks of it Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da will easily outsell the first week sales of Liberty. It needs to shift 20,000 to do this and by my estimation it should do. Great to see a band on the 80s not settle for their smash hits of the past.

That's right. And there are quite a few that have succeeded in the Top 10 in 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s. I am sure when Depeche Mode release their next new material it will go Top 10 as always. They have an incredible string of Top 10s. Very influential band.

And to be honest my note about Madness's new material is a little tongue in cheek. They only just made the Top 10 in the 70s with one single in 1979. They just had one week in the singles Top 10 in 1999 with Lovestruck. And then only just made the Top 10 albums in 2009 for one week with Liberty of Norton Folgate. So a much loved live act who will always sell out large venues and get a festival crowd going. But outside 1980-83 and a few incredibly high selling compilation albums have never quite broken into the top tier. But I've always loved them and they have to be applauded for continuing to bring out new material which is not at all bad. Not many 80s bands do this and instead appear at Festivals such as Rewind whilst Madness seem just keep crowds going at places like Glastonbury, V, T in the Park, the Olympics, buckingham palace and so on.

of course if Robbie doesnñt have more number 1 singles, it´s because they used to release the single after the album was out

Kylie is 8000 ahead of number 3, and 2500 behind number 1. A number 2 debut is looking likely, unless sales drop off massively.

Midweeks yesterday only showed 300 LP sales, which we know isn't correct. Kylie.com alone sold a lot more than that. Hopefully they'll get added today.

The album is doing incredibly well, and Parlophone are delighted. It has some nice promo coming up, with Strictly Come Dancing (currently the most watched show in the UK, beating X Factor in the ratings) Royal Variety etc. so it should keep selling well up to Christmas (although we need to expect a significant drop off next week, which is usual for Kylie and most artists with enthusiastic fanbases who run out and purchase in the first week of release.)

I really doubt they care.

73k is brilliant for Robbie - SHM were 72k on their Wednesday update, I'd expect Robbie to be a bit more frontloaded but he will easily clear 120k and he's on Graham Norton on Friday which could push him over 130k :D So glad to see Robbie smashing again, hopefully 'Take The Crown' will clear 200k next week.

Calvin pulling ahead of Kylie nicely, should be a comfortable second #1 album for him then and hopefully with a bit more longevity than 'Ready For The Weekend' (forgot how bad a chart run that had - 1-3-7-19-36 and then out of the top 40 never to return :o 26 weeks top 100 though which was alright).

Yay at 'Babel' remaining top 10 despite 5 new entries and a resurging fun. ahead of it, also 'Sigh No More' remaining top 40 with 12 new entries ahead of it.

'21' down to #33 with all the new entries, hope it can climb back to the top 30 at least :drama: Looks unlikely to last the rest of the year in the top 40 unless it gets another major boost from somewhere, 'Skyfall' doesn't seem to be helping it that much. Back in the top 5 itself though :D And it did get the highest sales at #7 of the year so far last week so not doing too badly at all, think it's done a lot better than its chart run so far suggests.

And finally HA at 'Red' falling all the way to #5.

They might not care but it satisfies me lol!!

Album sales are looking healthy if Muse are out of the top 10 but sales of their album are up 42% - maybe the whole top 10 over 15-18k? Hope this is the start of things for this season!
I'm quite gobsmacked dumbfounded at Robbies sales for Candy, it's been around for ages already, maybe it won't hang around for long after the album release, if Robbie Williams can sell 73k in midweeks after an x-factor performance, what the heck will Olly Murs sell? he'll prance and march around the stage just like Robbie, but will he lap dance Louis?

People normally get confused when it comes to CDs (singles) and LPs sold on artists websites, they may sell 2,000 copies of it but only those that are posted to a UK address count towards the UK chart.

I presume those are just lost sales. They don't count towards UK sales totals, and they don't count towards the international countries total sales.

I've wondered this myself, can someone clear it up? I suppose they count towards certain country charts such as the Australian and German ones. But either way they have to be included in worldwide sales.
