November 6, 201213 yr Author Dance was my favourite genre from the age of 11! For me, it was from the age of 8, when I bought my first Clubland album ^_^ (Clubland 7) My school is generally the same, the girls are into Bieber/Sheeran/1D, then there's the guys who like rock (1 or 2 girls also fit into this category) and guys who like rap. Then of course some people like dance music as well, there are a few fans of dubstep/drum and bass
November 6, 201213 yr On the basis of artists getting "blanket airplay" and therefore not playlisting them as a result they could choose Rihanna, Katy Perry, Olly Murs etc but that is never going to happen Theres a number of reasons for not playing a perticular song not just one reason - the pop artists above do get blanket airplay but are the pop stars of now. Robbie is a pop star of the 97-2003 era who is a british institution so still gets top 5 singles but it doesnt mean radio 1 HAVE to play his single (even though they do give it occassional spins).
November 6, 201213 yr Oh my goodness you've just taken narrowmindedness to another level. First of all, Radio 1 clearly try to cater to teenagers more than anyone else in the target audience. Teen awards, constant phone calls with 1d, a pathetically childish chart show. Problem is, teenagers DO NOT listen to the radio that much. At least not Radio 1. I spend 8 hours a day with teenagers and none of the get up early just to hear the Breakfast Show and are in school for the last hour and half of it. They can't listen to any of the daytime shows because most of them are in school for most of the year. The Breakfast Show was always good for a car journey to work/school, but a lot of teenagers would rather plug into their ipods and listen to what they want. This wasn't so much the case when I was a teengaer but it is now, I can't move for teenagers with earphones in. So Radio 1 is trying desperately to cater to a lost cause and so their average listener is still aged 3 to 4 years above the upper level of the target audience. I find it insulting that you think Radio 1 should have just ignored me and my sister as if we were 'irrelevant' just because we hit 20. I'm 24 and I don't feel a day older than I did at 18. I cant wait to hear Swedish House Mafia on radio 2 lol! I cant believe theres 5 pages on the radio 1 playlist thread - we need to get Grimshaw and Robbie in here to discuss things! November 6, 201213 yr They might playlist her next song, since it's with will.i.am. I guess featuring a current artist on her songs will help her get play-listed for a few years, but after that it will probably ware off. :( It's not worked for Madonna

It might prove that her name can still sell here.

I hope it's a dark electro tune with lots of percussion (maybe like Boom Boom Pow but with more melody).
