I may end up having to eat crow on this one but I'm near certain Palma Violets will win this.

Wouldn't predict them in the top 5 myself, but obviously I could be wrong.

3. Peace

2. AlunaGeorge

1. Tom Odell

Would be my prediction, but I could easily see Palma Violets in there rather than Peace.

Think this will be the top 3 now:

1. Tom Odell

2. Haim

3. AlunaGeorge

Good for Laura getting that top 5 spot, she deserves plenty of success next year :D

I'll guess at;

01 Arlissa

02 Tom Odell

03 AlunaGeorge

Arlissa seems to be getting a lot of BBC support recently.

Can't see anything other than an Aluna/Haim/Tom top 3, just a question of the order.
I sense it'll be a Palma victory primarily as the rumblings at Radio 1 are spaffing on about how a guitar comeback's coming in sooner rather than later, and the sheer gushing the NME et al have done over them indicates to me they'll definitely be top three, given lesser levels of gushing over The Vaccines got them there. The stars are aligning for them, I think.

Are international acts allowed to be on the list?

Because if they are, Kendrick Lamar and Angel Haze have a VERY good chance of getting into the Top 3.

I'd welcome a Palma Violets win obviously but it would be odd given they haven't done anything as impressive as "Death" or "Wreckin' Bar" yet and neither White Lies nor Vaccines could win. It would be simply to demonstrate that guitars are back, and in which case I'd have rather seen Imagine Dragons there.

Yeah. I think the main reason neither of those made it was solely because guitars were out of fashion in their respective years.

You realise there is a longlist of 15 acts that was announced ages ago? Angel Haze is on there and I thought she might be top 5 but I can't see it now as any of AlunaGeorge, Haim or Tom Odell missing the top 3 would be a shock.

Radio 1 haven't ever playlisted Palma Violets have they? I'm pretty sure the likes of White Lies and The Vaccines were already getting big support from R1 (as Aluna/Haim/Tom are, well the latter hasn't had HUGE support just yet but still) prior to their success. Would be very surprised if they're top 3 let alone the winners.

Oh. Well, at least my initial prediction was right about Angel Haze  I am glad to see her making the top 5, hopefully her track with Rudimental will be a hit. So at least one of AlunaGeorge/Haim/Tom Odell has missed out then, most likely Haim considering the Critics' Choice nominees.

How do you pronounce these artists with 'v' in the middle of their names? Chvurches and Laura Mvula, I'm looking at you two.

I've only bothered listening to something by AlunaGeorge out of the longlist tbh, that was 'Your Drums, Your Love', which I didn't really like. :(

Chvrches is just a styling thing, it's pronounced Churches. Mvula is apparently pronounced Mm-voola.

And there was me try to pronounce it 'ch-ver-ches'.

I like CHVRCHES a lot more now I've noticed one of them is fit :kink:
The girl is beautiful and really caught my eye actually, although I'm guessing you weren't talking about her!

The lead singer is pretty, but not hot, she looks too "cute" to be hot.

But her voice does things to me <3
