I discovered Gabrielle after she was entered into BJSC by Silas last month, and I am now a big fan of hers!

 

I was so happy when she revealed today that she was going to be releasing this year's John Lewis Christmas advert song - a cover of 'The Power of Love' by Frankie Goes To Hollywood! Slow Moving Millie managed to secure a top 40 hit last year and Ellie Goulding's 'Your Song' got to #2 in 2010!

 

The song premiere, John Lewis advert, music video and iTunes release is all starting/happening tomorrow (Friday 9th November) and you can watch Gabrielle reveal the news below:

 

 

As she says in the video, her first proper single 'Please Don't Say You Love Me' has now been delayed until February. You can see the video for that song below:

 

 

Hopefully this will give her a big platform for future material as well as get her into the charts this Christmas! :D

Oh good. I've liked her for a while, so her getting a chance at success is promising and while I'm not OVERLY enthused at the choice of song, she's massively improved songs by covering them before (hi Liar and The Lighter).

 

I look forward to it. It'll probably be of similar success to Slow Moving Millie I'd guess but any success will be worth it.

She deserves a shit tonne of success. So ridiculously talented.

 

I discovered her via her cover of The Liar And The Lighter a song that, like eyes says, she massively improves.

 

 

I am a little gutted that Please Don't Say You Love Me is being pushed until Feb but this could help it be the hit it should be.

Heard of her early this year. Her first single is nice. She's also good looking.

 

Must say I'm surprised she's been doing a track for John Lewis.

I hope so. :o Still think it's such a sublime track and I think by releasing in February 2013, this might bode well for Gabrielle Aplin.

Gabrielle has now released the video and the song on iTunes! Also the John Lewis advert has been released too!

Good choice this year - and technically its a classic xmas song which will probabaly end up in the chart and maybe boost the original!

Pleasant cover but I hope it doesn't harm her chances of being huge. I really thought everything was lining up for her to be quite big in 2013, she doesn't need to be typecast straight away and become a Charlene Soraia/Slow Moving Millie type advert aided one hit wonder.

She's up to #17 now!! I'm so so happy for her, and I hope the advert can keep her stable and even get her even higher!! :D

 

The advert had its TV premiere about an hour ago during Derren Brown on C4!

Her cover of 'Power Of Love' is gorgeous! I've loved her for a while now, glad she's (hopefully) going to get the success she deserves!

Never liked the original song but her cover is stunning, everything about her voice is beautiful. I've loved both her BJSC entries too, hope she's huge.

What an awful cover. Insipid, bad timing, vocals getting weaker and weaker as the song goes on.

 

The sooner this disappears and we get some original product the better.
