November 15, 201212 yr Author CHRISTMAS IN BLOBBYLAND- MR BLOBBY http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41fkvYHXttL._SL500_AA300_.jpg PEAK POSITION: 36 SALES: 32K FOLLOW UP TO: MR BLOBBY Christmas is of course the time for novelty records and, although you had to be there, Mr Blobby was quite funny at the beginning during his segments on “Noel Edmond’s House Party”, but then came the record which had novelty appeal and at the height of his popularity it became Xmas No 1 in 93. Quite what inspired the follow up in 95 is beyond me, a lame attempt which sounds like it was programmed into a Casio keyboard I’m not sure a video was ever made for it but needless to say it’s No 36 peak is being very flattering to it indeed! November 15, 201212 yr A #36 hit selling 32k seems more than what I'd imagine for Xmas 1995. I don't recall 'Christmas In Blobbyland' whatsoever - this is the same Xmas chart where I do remember such hits as 'A Gift For Christmas' by Childliners.

I don't recall 'Christmas In Blobbyland' whatsoever - this is the same Xmas chart where I do remember such hits as 'A Gift For Christmas' by Childliners. Yes it was rather a good Xmas period for some reason, but three weeks in the top 40 at Xmas time would have meant a good 7-8k a week. To be fair the Childliners were top 10 whilst this one passed me by also
November 15, 201212 yr That "Gift of Christmas" song wasn't that bad! I was 11 at the time and it has now entered my head again lol. I do not remember the Blobby one. La Roux PLEASE release again! All your songs were fab!
November 16, 201212 yr CHRISTMAS IN BLOBBYLAND : What a crap song!! But it's quite funny..Lol Blobby's vocals sound like vomit..
November 16, 201212 yr Author YOU CAN’T CHANGE ME- ROGER SANCHEZ http://991.com/newGallery/Roger-Sanchez-You-Cant-Change-M-437575.jpg PEAK POSITION: 25 SALES: 31K FOLLOW UP TO: ANOTHER CHANCE Even N’Dea Davenport (ex “Brand New Heavies”) on vocals couldn’t replicate the success of “Another Chance”. DJ’s hitting the No 1 spot had become one of the trends of the late 90s with Armand Van Helden and Fatboy Slim turning the trick in 1999 but part of the explanation for this record’s poor chart run might be down to the decision to release this at Christmas time, traditionally not a time when the genre fared well. November 16, 201212 yr Author LIFE’S TOO SHORT- THE LIGHTNING SEEDS http://991.com/newGallery/Lightning-Seeds-Lifes-Too-Short-458509.jpg PEAK POSITION: 27 SALES: 28K FOLLOW UP TO: THREE LIONS 98 Never a massive band on the singles front the group had amassed 10 top 30 hits between 1995 and 1998 including two No 1 singles in both versions of “Three Lions”. Whilst the follow up to the first one “What If” made No 14 they did far worse with the follow up to the 98 version, this is actually a song I really like for my sins though it’s painfully late 90s (never a bad thing in my eyes). Well virtually no-one loved the follow up, another track from her album “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got” , perhaps O’Connor was too controversial for our tastes, or that her outspoken views were not deemed appropriate for such a relatively “new” star but either way she was never back in the top 10. November 16, 201212 yr Absolutely not. It's vile. The list of absolutely amazing songs that you hate is growing ever longer.
November 16, 201212 yr I will not believe it if Shaggy - Soon Be Done from 1993 isn't on this list somewhere.
November 16, 201212 yr Absolutely not. It's vile. Chyp-Notic's dance version is at least as good as the original. Check it on Youtube!
November 16, 201212 yr YOU CAN’T CHANGE ME- ROGER SANCHEZ Probably would've charted better if released in January.
November 16, 201212 yr Fully expecting some of the random dance acts to make an apperance with their flop follow up singles  - Room 5, Meck, Nu Generation
November 17, 201212 yr Author LOST- COLDPLAY http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Lost-Cover.jpg PEAK POSITION: 54 SALES: 27K FOLLOW UP TO: VIVA LA VIDA It took 8 years to arrive but they finally got their first No 1 in 2008 with “Viva La Vida” and “Lost” was chosen as the official third single. In an age where a physical release was still a massive boost to sales the fact that they did not release this in the format didn’t help the cause, neither had they released VLV in that format but by this point the album had hit the stores and so this became the groups first single to miss the top 40. November 17, 201212 yr Author THE BOY WHO MURDERED LOVE- DIANA VICKERS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8e/TBWML.jpg PEAK POSITION: 36 SALES: 27K FOLLOW UP TO: ONCE Not the only X Factor entrant to make this rundown, Vickers was one of the more distinctive voices to come out of the show and found herself at No 1 with her first release, the Cathy Dennis co penned “Once”. The curse of all but the finalists from the show (well mostly anyway) is the follow up single and Vickers didn’t quite escape it either with this self penned track. November 17, 201212 yr Author WHAT IF I’M RIGHT- SANDI THOM http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/21/What_If.jpg PEAK POSITION: 22 SALES: 27K FOLLOW UP TO: I WISH I WAS A PUNK ROCKER (WITH FLOWERS IN MY HAIR) Hippy bohemian guitar rock is always a unpredictable genre to test the charts with but Thom thought she had cracked it with debut single “Punk Rocker” going all the way but after the initial attention drifted away from her she struggled with this track which is much of the same (although in my opinion slightly better than its predecessor). November 17, 201212 yr Sandi Thom's follow up was much better than her no.1. Such a shame. I can't think who the other XF act could be. Steve Brookstein? Chico?
November 17, 201212 yr 'The Boy Who Murdered Love' was incredible, much better than 'Once'. So disappointing that it flopped, sometimes I just don't GET the public.
