Emeli? lol bitch no. She will fade away completely by 2014. MAYBE 2015 but that's it.

I can actually see Lana lasting for at least 2 more albums (I do not count Paradise Edition as a second album)! Adele will obviously still be relevant in 2016 unless she starts releasing dirge which I can't see happening.

Rita Ora/Paloma Faith who?

I think Adele will slowly decline in popularity. I think she wont be having huge hit singles - she might have one with the next album and then lots of low-charting trickle sales but there won't be a 600,000 seller amongst them. He next album will sell 2 million and the one after that less than 1 million. Of course, the albums market could have rebounded or disappeared altogether by 2016 so who knows.....

If you can ever call #2 'a complete flop', that is...

Oh yeah point taken. I think I was thinking of the single which IIRC didn't make the Top 40. I'm sure saleswise the album was considered a flop relative to No Angel and Life For Rent though.

I voted for Adele - who will surely be around if she wants to be - and Paloma Faith - just a hunch she'll hit bigger with each album campaign. Rita Ora has no chance, Lana will likely remain a fascinating musician who wanders off to dabble in weird film/art projects and gets albums into the top forty for one week, and I hope and pray Emeli leaves us all alone.
Adele will outlast all of them I think. Paloma Faith and Emeli Sande might hang around for a while but its surprising the number of artists who have had big first albums and their follow-ups seem to not do half as well.

Kinda like the new Alanis Morrissette then? :)

Emeli and Adele. Adele's 21 success will be enough to keep her going for a few more years. I expect her future albums will (at least) sell well enough to be 'hits'. (despite nowhere near 21). And Emeli because she HAS something to say as an artist. She can write music, fine lyrics and hit songs. I doubt she can ever be as mainstream (/popular) as Adele but it will be a terrible waste of tallent if she is somehow forgotten during the next 5 years.

There will never be a new Alanis because nobody could ever be as flawless as her.

Emeli Sande will last for another album then fade away in the singles chart. In 5 years I could see her debuting with a #16 single and a #3 album. Still decent but her massive singles career will be up in heaven.

Lana Del Rey won't last very long. Her career was born to die.

Adele will still be rolling in the deep 5 years later.

Paloma Faith will sell albums but she won't be picking up the big singles.

Rita Ora's light won't be shining, she won't be hot and we will be saying R.I.P. to her career in a few years, unfortunately.

I think Lana Del Rey could be around for a long time, but only if she changed record label. If she stays where she is, she'll probably never ever get another hit single, and her albums will just sell mainly off her devoted fanbase.

It's really hard to decide. Looking back 5 years ago to 2007, these female soloists were the thing:

Amy Winehouse

Avril Lavigne

Beyoncé

Leona Lewis

Nelly Furtado

Rihanna

Only Beyoncé and Rihanna are successful and relevent today. But at the time, you would have certainly thought Leona Lewis and Nelly Furtado would still be successful (I would say Amy Winehouse too, but I'm sure most people thought it wouldn't end well unless she got her act together).

I'd say definitely Adele will still be successful in a few years time. Mainly because she's not going to rush into recording albums, so in 5 years time, she'll maybe have started recording her fourth album.

Considering Adele is pregnant and hasn't even began working on album #3, I'm sure the anticipation of a new Adele single in 2014 would be as big a deal as the release of 'Skyfall' was on that Friday.

Voted Adele for both, but also Emeli in the second option - will still be successful but possibly more in the albums market than singles. Her two UK #1 singles so far have been duets so whether Emeli ever gets a solo no. 1 is left to be seen.

I thought she had already started a while back?

Oh, I didn't realise that. The only rumours I'd heard were surrounding the James Bond track which turned out to be true in the end. I wonder if 'Skyfall' will be tracklisted on Adele's 3rd album?

Yeah, I'm sure I read somewhere she was writing some songs, although it could have just been Skyfall like you said.

I don't see why Skyfall won't appear on her third album - I'm sure she has rights to it as she did write it after all. Maybe feature as a bonus track if it's likely her next album won't be released until the end of 2013 at the minimum.

I thought the baby popped out, or is she pregnant again? :o I can't see Skyfall being on the next album if I'm honest, it probably wouldn't fit in with the context of the album!

emeli sandé already has more credibility than Adele.. she will be the next real superstar.
