I just looked back at the thread with all the iTunes charts in from every morning and evening and according to that, Hold It Against Me peaked at #4. Of course, it could have gone up to #3 between the morning and evening updates one day though.

24. Caden's Song (My First Christmas) - David Beggan & Union State

Is this ANOTHER charity song for the Ladywell kid? :drama: Cos I'm pretty sure his name was Caden Beggan.

Yep, another charity track for the Ladywell kid.

35. Love Is Easy (Dougie Style) - McFly

Is this a mashup of 'Love Is Easy' and 'Gangnam Style', guessing from the subtitle and vague awareness that 'Gangnam Style' was used on their show the other day? :P

I think it's just a version of the song with Dougie singing the vocals, well it sounds like that from the iTunes clip.

Why mention that Echo sold poorly compared to Spirit if you're not going to even acknowledge the reason why it sold poorly? As much as I love 'Happy', it wasn't radio friendly at all (especially in the year of electro-pop). Sure, in comparison to her previous album, looking at figures alone, it's very underwhelming. But if you take the time to discover the faults in the marketing and campaigning of the record, you'll realise that it was also quite impressive.

I remember some radio stations played a remix of it, not the original. The same happened to Whitney Houston's Million Dollar Bill too.

Which makes the marketing strategy behind the current album all the more puzzling, no? :o

The Freemasons remix if memory serves.....

I think Echo did great for managing to sell 700,000 off the back of Happy underperforming and just two singles. Spirit had 5 songs/ re-release, which helped it pass 1 million sales!

"Spirit" took just 5 weeks to sell its first million, containing (at that point) just two singles, albeit two No 1's.

On Galaxy FM for Happy it was the Jason Nevins remix they played. And they also played the Moto Blanco remix of Red by Daniel Merriweather a lot at the time. It was because back then it was a "rhythmic" station, which meant it couldn't play too many non-rhythmic songs of else they'd get an Ofcom investigation (it happened anyway, because they were playing Sex on Fire too much).

Of course, if this was today, Capital wouldn't bother playing any of these songs at all...

I miss the Galaxy days. :snif:

Reason for "Lovebird" doing so badly is its airplay. It isn't even top 200 in airplay and no big station is on board.

Anyway, a 3rd single is being released at least and it's going to be "Glassheart" apparantley, so I hope that it can salavage the campaign. Also, she has a whole bunch of promotion coming up for Europe, so fingers crossed she does well outside of the UK.

Me too! I thought it was just a Birmingham thing, but i'm guessing it was actually a nationwide radio?

Capital is POO in comparison

I do aswell. If someone came to me 5 years ago, played me Niggas in Paris, told me it was a massive hit, but told me that Galaxy FM would NOT play it, not even ONCE, I'd be like "What?". It's such a pathetic station now, all bubblegum pop, and such slow rotation of songs aswell. I guess now my parents will like it.

I suppose Kiss FM is the closest thing to the old Galaxy FM now.

57. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Rod Stewart

Coming for his first top 40 hit since 2001? :o The CD of this will probably sell reasonably strongly.

:o Is that true? I didnt realise radio station formats were/are that strict! I find that quite strange actually that an investigation could be launched over that. It makes you think about how songs are exactly classified.

Capital do play 'Niggas In Paris'. I heard it on there the other day.

Tbf, Galaxy isn't around to play it as that brand is completely gone.

The only thing the same is that its on the same radio frequency.I don't even think they kept the same DJs/Jockeys. In fact, isn't Adele Roberts now with 1xtra?

The DJs that do the Breakfast Show are the same, but yeah, some DJs were replaced.
