I don't think a shameless third-rate carbon copy of the 'E.T.' video can be called epic.
Oh dear.

I don't see how this:

... isn't saying that.

TBF didn't Calvin Harris say a similar thing? Hence why his album took so long? He wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to make an album for this "era" as I think he said he "didn't see the point" or whatever, considering we're now in the download era and people will only buy the songs they like from the previews etc... Hence why cherry picking is so successful and album sales are on the decline.

I can definitely see Alex and Calvin's points, but for selfish reasons and my love of the acts, I'm still going to like buying the albums as I want as many tracks from my favourite artists or whatever.

Some major under performing singles this week which are all follow up's to Top 20 hits, None of the below artists seem to have promoted that they are even out to buy either

The Killers – Here With Me [Previous single - 'Runaways' #18]

Previous single was actually 'Miss Atomic Bomb' (got top 100 I think), but I'm still not convinced this is "released" just yet. They've only just premiered the video and have little airplay for it. Radio 1 haven't even playlisted it (not even C) and I'd have thought they would be on board with a Killers single whether the previous ones flop or not. I dunno, maybe I'm just in denial that this is a release now, and I don't want to see it completely flop. But something doesn't seem right about this release

Is this track the Text For Santa charity TV programme been televised this Friday coming.

Yay!! :cheer: My sister heard it today, found it epic!

"Treading Water" was indeed Alex Clare's follow-up to "Too Close". Shame the other two singles have been ignored. He's a fantastic artist.

No i don't think so - It was featured in the 'Made In Chelsea' TV show. Love the show but i didn't realise it had that much of a following to produce a Top 20 iTunes hit!

Imagine Dragons holding up well! I thought they would plummet after a week - 'Radioactive' at #43 and the EP is at #32

'Radioactive' did plummet at first but has now been playlisted by Radio 1 hence it climbing again. Will be interesting to see if the EP can re-enter the top 100 officially after having an inital run of 37-x.

The Gypsy Queens' album was also a new entry at #46 last week so they must have some semblance of a fanbase. Made In Chelsea probably providing the bulk of the sales though :P

But, in all fairness, you've just taken his comment and rewritten it as vaguely as possible. He didn't say all albums are shit - he said some feature too much filler and are therefore rather pointless.

Have you really not seen the hypocrisy and the bitterness in his comment?

Yes but does that really justify bitchy comments?

I don't rate his music personally and his earlier comments come across as quite patronising and arrogant but it's extremely annoying how everyone jumps on him with catty remarks. Someone said to me yesterday on here (I think it was Gezza) that it's not what you say, it's how you say it (or something to that effect). Well there you go...

I thought The Saturday's only caused mayhem in the iTunes thread when they had a new release - It seems as though an Alex Day release has the same effect too  :drama:

I think the point is who is he to say what is filler or not. I'm sure I could listen to an Oasis album and think it mostly filler cus I don't like them so a song by them has to be outstanding for me to like it. If a fanbase is happy with albums and buys them then who are we to argue if it is filler or not.

I really like StupidStupid; bought it alongside a couple remixes.

The problem you face Alex, is that I dont think you receive more awareness from the public by charting a song; otherwise you would receive a high influx of new fans after every time you chart, and each single should in theory chart higher than the last - the opposite seems to be happening.

I actually agree with the album comment; having 10 fantastic songs on a compilation CD is better than having a 10 song album, where only 1/2 songs are great.

The flaw in your argement is that singles just dont recieve as much shelf space in stores: I was in my local HMV today, no sign of any StupidStupid CDs, but the whole store was full of displays advertising albums.

Not a big fan of the James Arthur song, if he makes Xmas No.1 then this will mean good press for what has been the worst year of X-factor imo.

Also, Whilst I agree with the message of the JusticeCollective, I think the song is bloody awful :(

Agreed. In the case of JLS and Pixie - they're nothing but puppets for the record company. "Kiss the Stars" should have been docked 100 places in the charts for a lack of effort and trying.

Thanks for the reminder there, now I'm going to have to rinse it from my memory again :puke2:

But this only works if albums are always (or at least the vast majority of the time) 1 or 2 good songs with shitloads of filler, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Just noticed there is a clean version of Scream & Shout at #110. Safe for #3 this week then.

The explicit version at #3 is now up to almost 60% of #1.

Well it looks like I f***ed that one up rather spectacularly didn't I? :D

Definite lesson learned, as I suspected - online audiences are fickle. The novelty of trying to get into the charts last year has now faded for them and they're not interested, regardless of the quality of the track - which is actually quite a saddening realisation about today's young people imo. The attention spans are so short that people don't appreciate the value of something like a great pop song unless it comes with gimmicks attached.

You sound like an old grandad saying that!

You can't critizize young people just because your song is not doing as well as you wanted it to. Young people have better things to spend their money on rather than your shit song.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST GIVE UP

Looks like Taylor Swift will be getting her third top 5 single this week with I Knew You Were Trouble (#05 + #103)

15. The Gypsy Queens - L'Americano (I still think this will be frontloaded and should miss the top 40 come Sunday)

38. £1 Fish Man - One Pound Fish (Oh, hopefully this makes the top 40 come Sunday :D & #196)

42. Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

44. Daley & Jessie J - Remember Me

50. Shontelle - Impossible

55. Alex Day - Stupid Stupid

107. Solange - Losing You

110. Girls Aloud - Beautiful Cause You Love Me

168. Carly Rae Jepsen - This Kiss (Hmmm, this might actually have a really weird top 200 run)

176. Jls - Hold Me Down (Ouch at a Jls single likely to miss the top 100)

280. Tulisa - Sight Of You (Ouch, two weeks top 100)

You sound like an old grandad saying that!

That's a little bit harsh don't you think?
