Posted December 16, 201212 yr  :cheer: :yahoo: Chart Singles Prediction Game Chart Sunday 23 December 2012 WEEK 51 IN 2012 The predictions are broken down into two sections:- SECTION A In this section, you should predict for each song a position between 1 and 75 based on where you think that song will chart within the Top 75. If you think the song will chart outside the top 75 (i.e. position 76 or lower) you should use the notation "75+". The point scoring for these 14 songs is:- 12 points if spot on with your prediction (therefore a maximum of 168 points to play for in this section); 11 points if your prediction is out by 1 position, 10 points if your prediction is out by 2 positions, down to 1 point if your prediction is out by 11 positions and no points if your prediction is out by 12 or more positions; If you think a song will not make the Top 75, you can predict that song to be 75+ (i.e. any position outside the top 75). If this is correct, you will get 6 points; If a song charts in a position between 76-86 (e.g. 77), and you have predicted that song to chart at a position between 65-75 (e.g. 70), you will still score the "normal" points - in the example given, you would score 3 points; If a new single is pulled from release or non-chart eligible then everyone's prediction for that question will be void and everyone will be awarded 6 points. SECTION B In this section, you will predict the answer to THREE bonus questions The first bonus question is worth eight points and the other two are worth 12 points (therefore giving a maximum of 32 points from this section). Therefore there will be a maximum of 200 Points [168 points in Section A, and 32 points in Section B] to gain. ============================================================ THE PREDICTIONS:- Sales Period: Sunday 16 December – Saturday 22 December SECTION A Pogues – Fairytale Of New York Maroon 5 – One More Night Wham! – Last Christmas Disclosure - Latch Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday DJ Fresh – Gold Dust Sub Focus – Tidal Wave Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas Alex Day – Stupid Stupid Adele - Skyfall Slade – Merry Xmas Everybody Girls Aloud – Something New Christina Perri – A Thousand Years Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone SECTION B Bonus 1) - 8 points Will the number of song titles with the words Christmas or Xmas in the top 75 (on the OCC website) be a) odd or b) even? Bonus 2) - 12 points Will the largest number of songs in the top 40 credited to X feat Y be a) between 1 and 10, b) between 11 and 20, c) between 21 and 30 or d) between 31 and 40? Bonus 3) - 12 points How many new entries or re-entries will there be in the top 40 Singles Chart? Spot on - 12 points 1 away - 8 points 2 away - 4 points ============================================================ You have until around 10:30am UK Time on Tuesday 18 December to get your entries in. Entries altered after the midweeks have arrived will be excluded. See notes below for further information on the deadline. Each Game counts towards the Overall Leader board (The Best 48 Games). I will maintain the last 6 weeks Leader board for newer players If you have not played before, then why not join in the fun? Important Notes When the question refers to a new entry in the top 40 that always means a song appearing in the top 40 for the first time. Therefore, if a song moves up from 41 to 40, that is a new entry unless the song has appeared in the top 40 before. If a song that charted in 1953 enters the top 40, that is not a new entry. The closing date is based on the availability of midweek information late on Tuesday morning. Music Week have announced that they will no longer be publishing midweek charts on Tuesday. We have discussed the possibility of moving the deadline but have decided to make no change. Only limited midweek information has generally been made available on a Tuesday. However, the consensus is that too much other information is available to justify moving the deadline. In the unlikely event of a sudden surge in physical sales, this may be reviewed again. :) :) :)
