I really wonder though if they do strike deals - think how long it was played last night!

Adele v. Emile Sande. No comparison. Adele will be back eventually, when she can be bothered, don't worry.

Haha Adele would have smashed the Olympics and done it amazingly. A maudlin song vs some of the biggest hits of all time? Everyone the world over were complaining the ceremony missed the biggest UK star since the Spices.

Shame Adele wasn't asked then...

The record for consecutive top 10 weeks is held by Adele's 21, which had 71- that's 5 more than Sande, who just holds the record for a DEBUT album. However the way it has been reported in the press for weeks on end would make anyone think Sandé has the all time record for any album, which she doesn't. In fact I'm noticing some sites just dropping the "debut" part when referencing the record, such as digitalspy did today, which is just shoddy journalism.

Doesn't surprise me at all, she's a media favourite right now so gets all the treatment.

Sure Adele wasn't asked for the Olympics? I think she was. ANd if not, she was heavily pregnant ...What I remember is that she turned them down.

I HIGHLY doubt she wasn't asked. She was probably asked and turned it down.

Also, can I just say that's what's even funnier about the Never option is I voted for it without realising it had already left!

I think it was more the song they were looking for, as opposed to the artist. Read All About It, Pt. III (addressing the nation) ticks the boxes for the Olympics more so than Someone Like You or Rolling in the Deep (love songs).

Because 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Dynamite' are so much more appropriate for the Olympics than Adele.

The whole point of the Olympics closing ceremony was a celebration of British musical talent (hence its name, 'A Symphony of British Music'). If the Olympics organisers didn't think Adele (the biggest and most recognisable British export worldwide for a long, long time) belonged there then they are retarded.

Emeli was blatantly splattered all over the Olympics because Adele wouldn't do it. She'd have had her space but not as OTT.

That's what we were all saying when she was on to sing Read All About It for like the 15th time that night!

I believe Adele was pregnant at the time of the Olympics, so yeah, no surprises why she wasn't there.

Plus, she hates performing in front of big crowds (she refused to play any arenas on her last tour even though there would've obviously been the demand), so she might have turned it down even if she wasn't pregnant anyway.

No wonder Emeli Sande was chosen then - if she could perform in front of Madonna on Graham Norton then I think she could take on an audience of millions. :P

Didn't the press say she didn't do it as she was worried stage fright would bring about an early labour?

Two.
