They re recorded for their recent Travelling album, but it didnt get mixed and finalised in time for the release date. So they are releasing it now as a single.

Yep, it'll be the Bassflow Remake, though I'm sure they don't use that name on R2 :kink:

I rarely listen to Radio 2, only if I'm on a car journey with my parents who listen to it, but I must admit they playlist some great songs! Great to see Adele and Kylie A-listed, along with Paloma Faith on the B-list.
Great to see Leona's album as their album of the week! Should definitely help it out next week :D

It's the only exposure that "Flower" is going to get, but I'm guessing it'll probably chart as well as Madonna's "Masterpiece", botched release and all.

Yeah, I recall Masterpiece was strongly supported by Radio 2, and if Flower was chart-eligible, judging by how it was doing on iTunes, I'd say it would have entered at a similar position to Masterpiece. It would be nice to see it officially enter the Top 100 when The Abbey Road Sessions is released at the end of the month, but tbh, I'm not really expecting any of the songs to enter. The album itself should be a success as it seems to be the perfect gift for Christmas.

How is the playlist selected?

The Playlist Committee, made up of producers and chaired by Jeff Smith, Head of Music Radio 2, meet each week to decide which new releases will be added to the station's playlist.

The playlist contains about 30 tracks which are divided into three levels: A list which receives the most plays, between 15 and 20 per week; B list between 5 and 10 plays and up to 5 plays per week for the C list.

The Radio 2 playlist is one of the most varied of any radio station in the UK and can include albums as well as singles. Before any track can be considered it must be commercially available or be within 3 weeks of commercial availability.

That's quite interesting, it's not the same as Radio 1 though as they generally playlist songs 4-5 weeks ahead of release. I'm surprised Radio 2's rules are different.

Bruno A-list, Kelly B-list and Fun. C-list? Great additions to the playlist!! :cheer:

Hopefully Leona will be C-listed next week with "Fireflies".

Yeah, when I saw that bit I thought it was different to the rules of the Radio 1 playlist. Perhaps it's because Radio 1 play more newer acts, so giving them airplay for longer will help the act build up a fan-base and make them more front-loaded, which gives them a better debut? Whereas Radio 2 plays older and more established acts, so they will already have a solid fan-base?

Yeah that makes sense I guess.

Robbie Williams has been on their A-list since the middle of september and others have also been on the playlist early, Will was with Jealousy and Maroon 5 with Moves Like Jagger.

Unless when they say commercially available, they mean worldwide, not just the UK - Moves Like Jagger was available in the US in June and Candy was available worldwide (except the UK) in September. Not sure about Will Young's Jealousy though.
