I'm not sure, but surprisingly after a quick look on their website, Radio 2 is the most listened to station in the UK! :o Which is quite surprising since Radio 2 doesn't seem to have a huge influence on the chart.

Radio 2 drives album sales more so than singles. They are more of an adult contemporary station, so I would assume their audience would generally be in the 25+ category. Although they do playlist some songs that younger people would listen to, but I'm guessing it's because their audience also enjoys them.

How is the playlist selected?

The Playlist Committee, made up of producers and chaired by Jeff Smith, Head of Music Radio 2, meet each week to decide which new releases will be added to the station's playlist.

The playlist contains about 30 tracks which are divided into three levels: A list which receives the most plays, between 15 and 20 per week; B list between 5 and 10 plays and up to 5 plays per week for the C list.

The Radio 2 playlist is one of the most varied of any radio station in the UK and can include albums as well as singles. Before any track can be considered it must be commercially available or be within 3 weeks of commercial availability.

Florence + the Machine milking this era! I like Lover to Lover, but it’s not going to do a Spectrum. Good to see it play-listed all the same, and Coldplay’s new one climbing.
I haven't actually heard Steps' new song yet, is it any good? (well, as far as Steps singles go, at least! :P)

On A Night Like This??

From the Abbey Road Sessions, not the 2000 version (although hearing that on radio again would be nice!)

Hope they make Kylie's album "Album of the week" at some point in the near future!

Didn't realise that 'Red' (the song) was doing so well on this playlist!! Glad to see Rebecca there too :cheer:
An ALBUM being playlisted?

Not the first time is it? The "rules" below the playlist even state that it can happen. :P

I don't remember what album(s) it may have been but I do remember seeing it in the past.

Yeah, fair enough! :P Not sure why it's play-listed now considering it's been available for almost a year and it's had massive success already! I'm guessing that when an album does get play-listed, it's just a simpler way of saying all the tracks on the album is play-listed?

I guess its been the biggest album of the year so they are giving it end of year plays. Suppose its similar to Buble getting playlisted with WC just because of the time of year and the albums selling bucketloads!
