Thankfully Claire is returning to the village, because that exit was crap on all sorts!

Jacqui's and Mitzeee's exit were all horrendously awful.

These past few weeks have reminded me how HILARIOUSLY AWFUL Clare Devine is. She couldn't have been a ropier, more clichéd villain than if she'd waltzed in screaming for a dalmation fur coat.

Coupled with the TERRIBLE Will/Texas saga, characterised by some truly sloppy editing (the stag party ep couldn't have felt more rushed) and some ATROCIOUS acting (I'm not one for naming names but having James Atherton lead a story is a recipe for disaster), and it does feel that the show is definitely on a bit of a comedown having lost all of their best characters this past year.

Thankfully I think Will will be leaving Hollyoaks sooner rather than later. I can see him framing Dodger for the murder.

Heartbreaking to see Leanne getting arrested.

Barney has just announced his departure from Hollyoaks. Delighted.

These past few weeks have reminded me how HILARIOUSLY AWFUL Clare Devine is. She couldn't have been a ropier, more clichéd villain than if she'd waltzed in screaming for a dalmation fur coat.

I haven't seen any of Clare's scenes from this year (I am on to it though), but I thought the previous times she has been on the show, she was absolutely fantastic! Although since you used the word "reminded", I guess you didn't approve of her back then either.

Not really. The character and the storylines for her back in the day were GREAT fun, but I don't think Gemma Bissix is ever going to be winning herself a BAFTA award.

On top of Barney's departure, it's looking extremely likely that

the Kane family are also out, probably next week. There's a spoiler that they get kicked out of their house, and the actors playing Ash and Callum have apparently been tweeting about CVs and London in recent weeks. My guess is they've been axed so that Kirkwood can bring in his own Roscoe creations. Which is a shame really, as the Kanes were one of the better family units on the show, and that pretty much wipes out the entire 2011 student intake who at one point were a rather promising bunch. Much more appealing than the Savages, although at least we know that Will has a shelf-life now.

I can't see the Savages remaining around for much longer, mainly due to the fact that Dodger's other family were brought into the show. I can Dirk, Dennis and Liberty leaving once the truth about Will is announced.

I've been considered whether or not to catch up on the past six weeks HO or not, but that spoiler and the arrival of the dreaded Roscoe identikit hunks just seals the deal for me.

Getting rid of MARTHA KANE? What the hell kind of stunt is that? EE should snap the actress up. She's bloody fab.

I was actually contemplating the same. What with Jacqui, Brendan, Cheryl and co no longer on our screens, and

the Kanes soon to join them

I'm fast running out of reasons to tune in. The hype over this Roscoe unit doesn't fill me with excitement in the least. Robbie is played by a competent actor, but is alas a HORRID character. And if the older one introduced last week is anything to go by, we're essentially just in for another round of "let's throw 10 rogue lad stereotypes at the audience and hope they're distracted by the six packs" nonsense.

I'm also finding myself permanently irritated by the way that very few characters ever face the consequences of their actions, and there is no point watching a show that irritates you. Between Robbie, Mercedes who doesn't seem to have to answer for anything, Ste reverting to unconvincing thug, Ruby escaping all accountability over the bullying saga, and not one but THREE murderers still roaming free in the village, it's all becoming a little tiresome. I understand soaps not wanting to always follow the "good guys win, bad guys lose" standard, but at the same time there does come a point where if there is never any payoff or comeuppance for anyone, you simply end up with no characters that the audience can root for or plot resolutions to eagerly anticipate. Who's really going to care about Mercedes' next scheme when we all know she won't pay for it?

Also can I just say that the wedding episode was APPALLING (rushed scenes, dialogue with no depth whatsoever, terrible acting all around, and an unintentionally hilarious death scene), but the unexpectedly early Will reveal a tiny TRIUMPH.

I'm not 100% sure that the Kanes are leaving, they might just be moving on. Surely if the Kanes are leaving George will also be leaving?

It seems as if

Sienna and Darren

might have an affair

Hollyoaks schemer Sienna Blake will start a small fire at The Dog in the Pond in a twisted scheme against her friend Nancy Osborne.

Sienna embarks on the dangerous plan as she wants Nancy's husband Darren to see that his partner's painkiller addiction is making her an unfit mother.

Anna Passey, who plays Sienna, told All About Soap: "She wants to teach Nancy a lesson. You see, Nancy's not listened, lots of people have tried to help her, and now Sienna needs to shock her and make Darren see how serious this is.

"Sienna finds Nancy passed out on the sofa. The iron is there and there's a pile of ironing on the side, so Sienna puts the iron hot-side-down on Oscar's clothes. She thinks she'll start a fire and it will draw attention to how far things have gone with Nancy, and open Darren's eyes to what a bad mum she is."

What Sienna doesn't realise is that baby Oscar is asleep upstairs at the pub, and her shocking actions have put him in danger.

When Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) discovers the blaze and raises the alarm over Oscar, a frantic Sienna rushes upstairs to rescue the youngster and is hailed a hero.

Nancy (Jessica Fox), meanwhile, faces a backlash as she is blamed for the fire. Things then get even worse for her as she discovers that her mum has had a fatal car accident in Canada.

Passey added: "After lots of arguments, Nancy discovers that her mum's been killed, so she has to go to Canada. She asks Sienna to stay and look after Darren and Oscar - she's inviting the wolf into her home!"

With Sienna wanting a place in the Osborne clan due to her own troubled family history, it's clear that this may only be the beginning of her scheming.

I've been really out of touch with Hollyoaks, but I've seen stuff on Digital Spy regarding Dr Browning getting gifts and stuff from "Lyndsy" and that he thinks Myra is the culprit, and I'm thinking this could be Clare's doing which is revealed whenever she is due to return this summer.
  • 3 weeks later...

a couple months in and I'm not sure what to think of the roscoes. robbie was foul so I'm glad he's gone, even if he is due to return later. the others aren't as bad, but don't appeal to me that much. joe is a bit of a dick, and I don't think that much of lindsey either. ziggy seems like the typical 'lad' character who does nothing but try and pull girls, which is boring. jason has potential, but is barely shown. my favourite out the bunch is definitely freddie, who at first I disliked but has grown on me, he's pretty interesting. sandy's not bad either.

I am however loving is stuff between sienna and darren/nancy, she's so amazingly evil. same with the storyline with paul, I agree that the stalker will turn out to be clare, although her return is due in september so I don't know how they're going to drag this out for that long. I can't see him actually doing myra in, although she has been egging him on so I'm not sure.

it's also been revealed by brian kirkwood that the new titles will be revealed on tomorrow's show! he said that it'll feature some of the older characters as well as the new characters, but in the same format which I'm pleased about because I love the titles format. so that'll be myra, frankie, jack, sandy, diane, joe, lindsey, freddie, jason, ziggy, finn and vincent added in. possibly martha as well but she's faded back into the background a bit so I don't know.

is it bad that I'm really excited to see the new titles? it's been a long time coming.

The Roscoes are pretty terrible, their saving graces are that Sandy is alright in the same way as Stella from Corrie is - she's just there and is pretty inoffensive (oddly, given they were Cindy and Kathy Beale respectively ), Jason could be great if shown and that Joe is hotttttt as f***.

The Sienna stuff is amazing, she's so unhinged and evil, but Anna Passey is fantastic and so pretty! Can't wait for her to get caught out but at the same time I don't want it to end.

I've been finding the Nancy / Sienna storyline incredibly uncomfortable, I don't know why but I just don't enjoy the fact that Hollyoaks are splitting up a happy / strong couple. Sienna is a rather fantastic character but the climax needs to happen sooner rather than later, I would be annoyed if Sienna sleeps with Darren.

I'm thinking that Dr Browning's stalker may actually be himself!

Nancy and Darren splitting up is sad. I'm really hoping it's a temporary thing.

An advert dubbed 'Six Weeks of Summer' has been released, showing teasers of exactly what it says on the tin. The storylines will air from 22 July to 30 August.

Seems interesting! I love a good car chase! :D It seems Hollyoaks are taking note from Corrie 10 years back with the Richard Hillman storyline - Myra (it looked and sounded like her) getting attacked with a crowbar.
