Toxic is a pop classic, and a deserved one as well!

And I'm not even a Britney fan.

Is Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' not a classic as it's "only" sold 400k in total? When judging classics, sales should not be brought into it. It's more down to the cultural impact at the time of release, imo. 'Scream & Shout' is too similar to many other songs to become a classic in the same vein as 'Toxic', 'Crazy In Love' and others. Classic songs set the trend, they're iconic and memorable for whatever reason.

Exactly, especially when you look at songs such Summer of 69 or 9 to 5 which missed the Top 40 - they are one of Bryan Adams' and Dolly Parton's most well-known songs, yet sold barely anything (pre-downloads, wouldn't surprise me if both had sold at least 200k in the digital era alone).

527. Ellie Goulding - Explosions

'Explosions' is currently being used on an ITV advert, so hopefully this can climb up the chart a lot! :D

Explosions  111!!! :cheer:

I heard Summer of 69 is the best-selling song ever not to reach the top 40, so yeah, I imagine it's sold over 200,000.

Don't Stop Believin' by Journey is another. Even before its massive resurgance in the charts a few years ago, it was very well known.

Funny that 50 Cent has two versions in the top 10! Although it happened to Gangnam Style a few weeks ago as well.

Anyone think Everything Everything could get into the top 40 tomorrow? The album will likely debut at #1 (picking up my copy on Tuesday :P) but I hope the single can also perform moderately well.

Kemosabe is one of my favourite singles of the last few months, it really deserves a Top 40 place but i highly doubt it'll get anywhere close. I'd be shocked if the album got to #1, Top 5 seems possible though. A few of the album tracks are leaked on Youtube, Torso of the Week on repeat right now <3

It wouldn't surprise me if it was - the recent 59p reductions will have been helping too.

Yeah, that one did pop into my mind, same with At Last by Etta James before it reached #39 last year - been covered by so many people so that would have helped boost its sales.

Do we think 50 Cent will reach the summit? I somehow doubt he will but wouldn't be surprised.

I think he will. The 2nd version of Scream & Shout is decreasing and he is close to being #2 combined, also the explicit version of My Life has finally entered the top 10 and that will no doubt climb over the next few days.

Well, it'll be midnight in America I assume. We'll have it ready for us when we wake up with snow on the ground outside and it'll be the best day of the year so far :)

I dont think it's gonna snow in London today

I'm late to this debate, but Toxic.. not a pop classic??? What have you been drinking!

It is undoubtedly her second most well known song, of course of a lot of that is down to the video!

Shut Up And Dance - Raving I'm Raving

I heard this on a T.V programme about the 1990's but i see that it's not in the iTunes chart yet.

I'm pretty sure the original isn't even on iTunes  The song reached #2, but it was quickly taken off shelves due to the sample from "Walking in Memphis" not being cleared? Or something

The #1 hit that NEVER WAS :(

Suit and Tie is OUT everywhere.

I won't smash FOR SURE, but... It's a risky one and it DOESN'T sounds like other stuff... It's not an electro dancing song like anyone could sing... It's THAT good but for those who doesn't looking for INSTANT music only for charts. It will start really well of the US (top 40 or something already combined and it's been only an hour...) but than nothing.
