HIS NOSE! HIS FACE!!!     If I was simon I'd sack the Graphic Designer... And have him Hire Me!

Paulina looks drugged and constipated too, not a great promo pic  Demi (of course, when doesn't she?) and Kelly look good however.
  • 4 weeks later...

This started last night! Wasn't GREAT last year thanks to Jennel being sent home so early (still WHAT THE F AT THAT), but Queen Demi keeps me watching  That and my obsession for reality shows  I've not watched it yet myself, but I've downloaded it to watch tomorrow or at the weekend! We know the judges catergories too, might have already been posted but:

Demi -

Girls (hope it goes better than last year!)

Paulina -

Boys (dunno what to make of her, I love her music but don't know enough about her to judge whether she can mentor boys)

Kelly -

Overs (poor Kelly)

Simon

Groups (yet again)

It's on at stupid times in the UK, starts next Friday at 8pm and then Saturday at 1.25pm apparently? :/ Idk, I assume the Saturday must be a repeat actually... Anyway, I'll just watch online until we've inevitably caught up once the US have their usual baseball/whatever sport break.

This aired last night in Ireland and it was OK. My favourite judge is probably Paulina, even though her music isn't exactly my thing. It seems VERY scripted compared to the UK version, and that's saying something. The first guy (Carlito?) was unbearable as well, but the crowd and judges seemed to love him.

K-Nected though. Such a mess!

Watched this late last night, and it was OK I suppose, not fantastic though. I think it would be a good idea introducing the room auditions over there as well as in the UK, although America probably prefer arena auditions as opposed to intimate sessions with the judges. But yeah... the judges. Kelly Rowland not as annoying (YET), but there's still just something about her I really don't like, and some of the things she says just seem so scripted. Not really keen on Paulina either, but I like that she's quite cheeky. Demi is obviously the star judge on this panel, though. <3

The talent wasn't that great, though. Like everyone else I was SHOCKED when Lillie said that she was 54! :o She only looks about 21 or 22, if even that. Exceptionally good singer too, and I really liked Alex and Sierra too. They were amazing! <3 Carlito was alright, but he could do with a bit of work. Those three I did like though.

18-49 demo rating of 2.1 (6.17 million viewers) at 8pm. This is down a massive 13 tenths from last year's premiere score of 3.4.

Ratings have fallen even further . I really don't think that it's going to last another year.

Second night was a 2.2!

It's down 39.4% on last year which means to survive the entire Fox network is going to have to lose 40% of it's ratings. There are a lot of stable shows in that line-up that will maybe lose 10% at most, so I'd bet that this won't be returning for a 4th season.

Well intimate sessions worked with American Idol for over a decade. :kink:

I think the second night was better. Paulina doesn't appear to really bring much so far but Demi is great once again and I'm really liking Kelly Rowland, I think them two really work together and with Simon. The talent is very promising already but what was with the girl who had to ask Simon's name, does she live under a rock??

Joselyn or something? She was such a weirdo.

Rachel Potter was the highlight for me. I really hope she goes far. Jorge was awful. He needs to go.

EDIT: ADORED Simone as well.

Just watched the first night, bit disappointed with Paulina as a judge. She's kinda fun but I expected her to be more of a presence, AGOG that her name is actually 'Pow-lina', my life is a lie </3 Demi is of course still a queen  I adore her so so much and she's such a good judge. I love how she's so honest without being horrible or anything. She's my fave in both singing and judging, so the loon glasses will not be coming off  The ratings really are TERRIBLE though. I think the problem still is that the whole thing is just too scripted, it's been the same for the past 2 series! The constant hyperbole for literally everyone ('you're a star', 'I feel like I'm listening to Whitney', 'you're literally exceptional' etc. on one end and then Simon labelling anybody who is remotely bad as the worst voice he's ever heard on the other) really shows this.

As for the contestant, christ at Lille being 54 :o Honestly wouldn't have even put her at 24 as everyone has said. She was incredible too, flawless voice and a really touching and captivating performance. Really liked Alex and Sierra (even if their Toxic performance was just a carbon copy of Melanie Martinez from The Voice's version!) and Ryan (WHAT was with Simon's hyperbole though? She was good, but no way would she 'do a Carrie Underwood' as Simon implied if she was on Idol, let alone X-Factor) too.

Eugh. TV3 here have shifted both episodes to Friday at 9pm so I'm gonna be up all night watching this. :drama: Paulina seems to have disappeared from the panel?

Josh Levi was really good. They were hints of a very very young Abel Tesfaye in his voice, but he seems a bit more generic. If he goes through to live shows then I think he'll get far.

Paulina Rubio is SUCH a random inclusion on the panel. I loved one of her songs about ten years ago (think it was called Don't Say Goodbye?) but she hardly screams relevant. I guess she's bigger in the US but she hasn't exactly lit up the charts there at any point recently. She doesn't seem overly impressive as a judge, just somebody that seems to be laughed at for her accent. Kelly Rowland was pretty crap on the lives on the UK shows, so will be interesting to see if she suffers the same fate here.
The one thing that annoys me this season is the fact that the people are either really good or just really shit. There's absolutely no middle and the votes are either four yeses or four noes and it all gets very predictable very quickly.

The difference is the hispanic population in the US, compared to the UK. She's huge in the latin community.

Over in Europe I think she's only famous in Spain, here in Portugal and also Italy she had a big hit with Y Yo Sigo Aqui back in 2001, but that was when those latin-pop songs were easy to crossover.

I'm loving this season.

But I hate the fact that they keep on mentioning that the contestants are auditioning in 4 sections: boys, girls, groups and overs. Like, we get it Mario, you don't need to say it 100000 times every episode. ^_^

Ashly Williams

She was so amazing and I hope she makes it far. That girl has a bright future ahead of her if she gets it right

Not sure where I am as I'm watching at UK but I only watched last Friday (which was the one I saw online anyway) and now I'm watching on ITV2! That Jocelyn woman who waltzed in and was like 'MMHMM HONNAAYY LOOK AT ME I LOOK 24 BUT I'M 34 IMMA WIN' and was awful was so so so irritating :/

Rachel Potter  With Landslide by Dixie Chicks in the background too <3 I don't get why she was on about her age so much though when she's only 29

Also 'country version of Somebody To Love' and it's pretty much the same as the original, just with her countrified voice on it

She is AMAZING though. Jesus.

Demi angry at that Latino ice cream man guy  QUEEN.
