Maybe Jack means indie in its loosest terms, with Adele and Emeli Sande having a slight edge in their music. Oh well, I suppose we'd all be happy if Marina And The Diamonds won all of the awards. :manson:

The Brit Awards is biased towards all good music, not a particular genre.

If they were biased to all good music Heartbreak On Hold would win best album; Elephant would win Best British Single and Burke herself would win Best Female! (And global success for her top 100 hits across Europe)!

Holly? I'm not so sure. I wouldn't mind Ant and Dec again. Kylie with a British co host? But not Dermot or Grimmy, Russell or Keith. Brucie maybe?

I wouldn't mind Elephant getting British Single actually, that's a very good winner. :kink:

Floppy Burke can MOVE OVER. If the Brits were biased towards good music then Django Django would've swept up the entire thing

The only thing the Brits are biased towards these days is bland music. I can't think of an award last night where the most exciting artist won. That means all genres are equally punished and anyone vaguely edgy is doing well to get a nomination, let alone a win. Frank Ocean I'll accept but it was a fairly left-of-centre category full stop.

The Brits have always been weird. They give awards to people who come, and to people who they think they should give awards to. Take Arctic Monkeys in 2007 and 2008. Both were brilliant albums, but they mocked the BRITs, the second time extremely badly, and consequently have been snubbed completely.

I don't think many people take them seriously at all. There's a complete lack of representation and categories. They need to revamp the whole awards, and make it a smaller version of the Grammy's if they want people to take it seriously again. There really should be Best Pop Group, Best Alternative Group, Best RnB etc. why they got rid of so many awards in the first place was ridiculous. If they want to make it a live event still then they should make it longer.

If weren't up for an award, I doubt Mr Cowell would've been in attendance at all...

2 1/4 hrs would have been fine if 1/3rd of the time wasn't taken up by adverts, trailers and other promotional puff.

I remember that! The moment when Sharon Osbourne had a go at Vic Reeves before the award was announced was even funnier in my opinion!

I personally think that Davina and Paddy wouldn't be good hosts. They lack the charisma that is needed to host the awards!

Well obviously not them two!

I miss how it was ten years ago, 2003 had amazing winners and performers including Liberty X, Justin/Kylie, Avril Lavigne and just generally seemed less snobby back then.

So why did you say that it was so biased towards indie music? And all of the artists that you've just mentioned are pop acts, how isn't that biased...

I don't want to cause an argument, I'm just picking holes in your argument.

I agree, too many acts get unfairly snubbed nowadays, they do need to try to bring credibility back to the awards (and genre awards would allow that to happen).

I agree in the sense they need to stop trying so hard, Amy Winehouse best female?! And Cat Power best international female?

It does come across a bit try-hard at times.

I'm just saying pop and RnB really isn't that well represented imo.

He's referring to the difference between the more diverse 2003 with the indie-heavy 2013. Which I agree with!

Well, that's fair enough. I agree that they should bring the genre categories back as well.
